I'm in the middle of assessing the Studio one 3 pro demo..it's looking good, wanna move from Cubase!
was just reading a thread about how useless the VU meter is that Presonus offers...
so..why would a so called great DAW maker supply a second rate VU meter?
what am I missing?
this is an expensive DAW , the thread about the VU meter has created some doubt in my mind... :?
so not sure about buying :?

There are other ways to monitor and set your levels within Studio One.
If the VU meter is a deal breaker for you then you may want to consider what your needs really are in a DAW. ;)

I myself have read threads about the VU in trying to understand how to install the silly thing.
I can't seem to get it installed but that does not dissuade me from using S1.
I've not really used it in the past as I've found and used other methods and tools. 8-)

Yes..of course there are other ways and i will use them..I'm just surprised that the makers of a top DAW would produce such a rubbish VU...that's all my friend :)

It's not "rubbish". In fact I use it on every single mix. Its got a mini-view on the channels that is ideal for gain staging. After setting up a plugin, you just drag it down to the next one to make sure your output level is good for the previous plugin. There has been talk about its ballistics not being ideal, nevertheless, I find it super useful and handy. And for the record, I love Studio One. I looked at DAWs for 6 months, decided on Studio One and have never looked back.
