Hello there,

I can't seem to find a manual for creating Macro's. There are also not many tutorials out there. I understand the basic concept of Macros and want to use this powerful feature but I for instance haven't got a clue what kind of information to enter in the 'arguments' field of certain commands that require more complex info then "1" or "0".

Is there a list of arguments somewhere? Is there a complete manual? The built in referencemanual doesn't seem to contain this information. Or am I wrong?

Sincerely,
Peter

Hi Peter.

Macro steps that use arguments beyond the simple things like a 1 or 0 or a bar number or similar come from dialogs. (Actually, those more simple ones do also).

If you click or double click on the arguments field for some things you get shown a bigger dialog and making choices in the dialog fills out the longer reading arguments for that step.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Lawrence,

Unfortunately I don't get bigger dialogues. The only one I found was when inserting a specific plugin. Anyone else?

Hi Peter.

All of them don't have multiple choices. Try transpose or note length or similar as a macro step and when you edit the arguments you'll see the same dialog that you'd see calling it manually,

Looking through the full action list while editing macros, look for any actions with three dots in that second column, "...". If you don't see three dots or some other text entry in the second column there, the action has no arguments.

Hope that helps.

I created an online macro documentation that explains most of the more complex commands and their arguments:

https://s1toolbox.com/macrodocumentation

The selection will be further expanded over time.

If you are unsure about a particular command or their arguments, we can certainly help.
