Manage Outputs from Plugin UI

You can Enable / Disable Outputs for Plugins that have multiple outputs from the Instrument Panel in the Console, but if you want to...

a. Save the screen space that the Console view will take up

b. Avoid having to browse / move away from the current Plugin UI you are working on

...but still be able to enable or disable Outputs for your plugins.

Click on the "CH" button on the plugin UI to make any Output changes you want.

The Fade Trick

Adjusting the Fade Flag on clips will create a Linear fade by default. Changing the curve of the fade can be done by clicking on the Fade Curve Box and dragging up or down, this will produce a Logarithmic or Exponential fade - out curve.

One might adjust the Fade Flag and Fade Curve Box independently, but there is a trick that will allow you to adjust both at the same time.

Hold down Shift *before* you click on the Fade Flag or the Fade Curve Box then drag left or right to adjust the Curve length and up and down to change the Fade curve type.

When checking out Comping in S1V2, I was lost on how to reasonably audition the takes.

I looked in the manual, but I knew I saw a much easier way somewhere than manualy selecting the Listen Tools and manually setting Solo.
I went and reviewed the live stream release videos and they did not cover it.
I finally found it today in the Studio One Comping Video from the Studio One product page.

The answer: Alt Click the highlighted region.

From the manual: 6.8.2 Auditioning Takes
When comping, it is helpful to be able to quickly audition the various takes to determine the desired parts of each take. Soloing Layers allows you to quickly switch between takes exclusively, as only one Layer of a Track may be soloed at any time. Note that Track Solo is independent of this, so you can solo the Track or not, depending on whether you would like to hear the performances you are comping in the context of the other Tracks in your Song.
Alternatively, the Listen tool is well suited to auditioning takes. With the Listen tool selected, you can simply click anywhere on any take to instantly hear it. Note that using the Listen tool will also solo the Track.

I think they should update the manual.

Hotspots

db may get more into this later but investigate the "Hotspots" in the key command list. Here is an example where I've mapped Create Range From Cursor To Hotspot to Alt + H, which creates a range from cursor to transient.

Image

Another example with midi using the same command. The first hotspot is the clip edge. The second is the next midi note.

Ranges

There are also various un-mapped key commands related to Selection Ranges. You might want to also investigate some potential uses for those, especially if you have hardware control devices that can map to key commands.
