Ive already reported this as a support ticket (Request #194656 ) during the V2 era, however support could not help me and I gave up.

And now this issue has returned :o also in V3

When mixing down certain song the begining of any mixdown randomly drops out and at moments audio levels in the filer fluctuate (see the red arrows in the image). These are four mixdowns of a same project:

Image

The only common ground Ive found is:

-Files are 32bit/ 48kHz (Originate from Reaper 64 bit, no conversion involved)
-Parts of sliced audio (slip edited drums) are included/glued in Audio Parts
- It happens with non-realtime rendering (realtime works corerctly) to wav
-I used only internal S1 effects
Ive tried all 3 audio interfaces, different buffer sizes- same random results

This issue is a real dealbreaker- the mixdown function is completely unreliable.

Thanks

I have seen random audio volume changes over a period of time. It has gone away by doing a realtime mixdown. Not sure if that's an option for you.

I alway atributed it to doing other things on the pc while the mixdown was going on, but I never quite nailed down the exact culprit.

Thanks for your input Mathew.

I also never do anything else while rendering.

Realtime rendering or printing a bus does render correctly, but its a lenghty job to do.

Its certainly wierd. I've noticed, on my system anyway, that it mainly happens when I mixdown to wav. Can't remember it happening rendering to mp3, which doent make sense to me. There is a lot more going on when rendering to MP3.

Yes it happens here also when rendering to wav. (usually to the same bit depth/smp. rate as the project)

Another fact to add to this issue (I did some more testing):

Every project that has this issue contains Open AIr Reverb (1 or more) send to fx channels.

If I remove the fx channel/reverb or move it directly to the audio track and tweak the mix button the render carries out normally.

Ive done some more testing- The culprit to this issue is Open Air rever- If its used as a send fx (on a FX or bus track) offline mixdown causes dropouts in the renderd file. It happens when rendering to Wav.

But its still hard to reproduce this- doesnt happen every time

I saw this same thing in the first 3 seconds of audio. I tried different resolution/sample rates - still lost audio. I tried wav and mp3 - still lost audio. I inserted 5 seconds of silence into the whole project and now all audio is there without the dropout. I guess I can edit the wav/mp3 after mixdown to delete the beginning silence but why does this happen?

I too see this problem from time to time, it's really frustrating.

For me it happens when updating the master file in the project section, I'm guessing it's using the mixdown function for this behind the scenes.

I've found that if the problem occurs you might be able to get rid of it by moving the "start flag" around. If it's at the beginning, then move it in half a bar or so. And the other way around.

Another thing that seems to be involved is your audio buffer size. It helps to have it set on 1024.

This is interesting as I almost in all songs use FX tracks with Open Air in them. The plugin seems a bit buggy as it sometimes looses the "Mix" value setting when you save.

Ive been fighting this problem(actually both- the render and the mix knob one) since the v2 era. I got a response quite some time ago from support that maybe it will get fixed in a future update, but until today it didnt happen, so I highly doubt it ever will.
