Hi,

is there a way to export stems with master effects enabled?
Alternatively, is there a way to automatically insert an effect on all tracks at the same time?

thanks!

PS: running newest version.

I think, and others can / will correct this if it's wrong, that if you render "Track" stems, from the "Tracks" stem tab, it renders everything through the master bus. Having said that (assuming that's the case), rendering individual track stems through master bus fx won't give you the same collective result as the full mix going through those same FX, for obvious reasons related to compressor or limiter thresholds and similar.

But I do think Track Stems renders through the master bus. You can check that for yourself by applying some really obvious dsp there and rendering a stem from that tab and looking at the result.

Alternatively, is there a way to automatically insert an effect on all tracks at the same time?

Not for existing tracks, nope. Only when creating new tracks.

Hope that helps.

Aha! I'd tested it using the channels tab, not realising there was a real difference. But you are completely correct, the 'track' tab does it though the mast fx. Really good, and thanks for the tip!

You're very welcome DJ.

The other major difference is that 'Track' stems are much slower for - multiple - stem renders because they render in series, one after the other in solo, which can seem like forever if you're rendering 12-16-24 stems that way, while 'Channel' stems render all at once, all at the same time.

Track stems are probably more necessary when you can't render with the Channel stem method, like if you're stemming midi tracks to audio from a multitimbral synth that only has two outputs or something. Like if I wanted to render 16 midi tracks playing on my Korg X5D module that only has 2 outputs... it would render them all, but one at a time in solo.

this is one of top requests for v3. however, please note that having an effect on the master is not equivalent of putting it on each single track...
