Hi,

I am trying to record Roli Seaboard for a Solo SWAM instrument.

MPE is enabled in the instrument and in the controller. In fact, we can hear all dynamics and expressions as played. I can even see the recording happening correctly in the 'Note controller' tab of the track.

However, when the recording is played back, the dynamics and the expression are not consistent with what was recorded (or sounded during recording). On close inspection, it appears that Studio One 6 tries to fit the pitch bend and other information from the MPE controller into a curve (a straight line) for saving the MIDI/MPE recording.

While it certainly saves memory used to store the events, the way the resolution of the information recorded into the 'Note Controller' portion was lowered (after recording was stopped) seems to be the reason for this issue.

I have two screenshots attached :
1. Taken during recording
2. Taken after recording is stopped

The difference between the two pictures show what is happening.

Has anybody else noticed this and are there any recommended solution for this?

Thanks and Regards,
Somasundaram.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Can you please go to Options -> Advanced -> Automation and see which reduction level is set? I have it set to 0% so that automation points are not consolidated to simplify the automation.

Thank you very much! That resolved the issue that I faced with recording MPE events. Without this control, it might feel that MPE recording is not working correctly.

I think it would be very useful to have this control on a per parameter level to reduce memory usage for the project overall.

Thanks,
Somasundaram.
