I recently saw this video that uses a multiband compressor where the signal of one band is used as the trigger for a different band. Is this also possible using the S1 stock plugin?

The included multiband dynamics processor in S1 takes sidechain input from tracks and bus's.
That would require a plugin with internal routing for that purpose. A workaround might be to have a duplicate track with an eq that only lets the frequency you want go to the output. Mute the output to the mains. Then use that track as your trigger.

It seems that in the video the multiband comp would be put on the mains to make sure all lows of all channels would be taken into account. Perhaps to get the same result, you could add two busses where one is a "pre-main" bus that outputs to the mains and uses a send to send the same signal to another bus that does the EQ you mentioned and also the compression that is needed on the lows, and then use that bus as the signal for the multiband comp on the mains. Not sure if a setup like this is possible, or if it would give the same results though.
