Hey all!

My band is trying to use Studio One 5 show mode/ performance mode for our live performances. The software works fine on its own, everything is synced and playing correctly. We bought an Alesis Strike Multipad in hopes of using a few of its pads as midi control for the Studio One software. I have synced the pad up as a keyboard, instrument, and controller (not simultaneously) and the software has received midi from it in keyboard configuration for sure. However, I can’t seem to assign the midi notation to a macro function like I’m wanting to. For instance I built a mute macro in the Control section of Studio One but I can’t make the Alesis fire it. Is that even possible or do I need to sell this pad and get a Presonus product that will allow my drummer to control the daw?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

this is possible if the Alesis can send MIDI CC commands. These are (officially) the only MIDI messages that you can assign to commands.
