I've been trying to find a way to use keyboard shortcuts to select note lengths in step record.
Creating new keyboard shortcuts for note lengths doesn't carry through to note lengths in step record. This makes entering notes much longer to do as you have to use the mouse. I can't find any solution in the help files or on YouTube. Anyone managed to do this? |
Note lengths -- whole note, half note, quarter note, etc. -- are numbers 3-9 on your keyboard. (I'm assuming that's what you're asking for.)

I tried those earlier and by default these keyboard shortcuts are assigned to other functions.
I can't understand why set some shortcuts, they don't seem to work in step mode. |
I had another look, and eventually worked out what was wrong...
I'd entered the shortcuts under MACRO note lengths, rather than just note lengths (what a twit). I decided not to lose the existing shortcuts for the number pads but chose other ones. All is now fine. It's a pity the user manual doesn't provide some guidance here for this. |
It's a pity Studio One's step record doesn't allow you to audition notes/chords before you commit to placing them. It's aggravating.
C'mon, developers, take a cue from Ableton and assign the right arrow key to place the notes/chords AFTER you play them. I'm still on v5.5.2. If S1 v6 does this now, disregard my post... |
