I posted this in the 6.1.1 thread, it is reproducible in 6.1.2. Figured best to create it's own individual thread which I can refer to in other threads in future.....

STEPS TO REPRO...

a) Add an instrument track.

b) Select input dropdown to Default (BTW this is confusing, if I select another value, and then select "None" the value changes to "Default again". I would expect "None" to be displayed here, or at least both if "Default" is valid).

c) Select output to "None", hit OK.

BUG1.

EXPECTED... Instrument Output and Instrument Input track set to "None".
ACTUAL... Instrument Output set to "None" and Instrument Input set to "All Inputs"

d) Select Instrument output as "None" for track you have just created. Both should be "None" now.

e) Right click, store this as a track preset.

f) Create a new instrument track with the track preset you just created.

BUG2.

EXPECTED... Instrument Output and Instrument Input track set to "None".
ACTUAL... Instrument Output set to "None" and Instrument Input set to "All Inputs" once again.

Thx.

Hi, the workaround for "None/All Inputs" is to create a dummy "No Input" MIDI Port that isn't connected to anything:

YOU SIR ARE A GENIUS! THANKYOU.

That helps a lot!
Still, this needs to be fixed.

I took a quick look at this now. I agree Default <--> None is a little confusing in this drop-down list.

d) Select Instrument output as "None" for track you have just created. Both should be "None" now.

I assume you meant "Instrument input" here. Because Instrument output (as you say) has already been correctly set to "None". When reporting bugs, it really helps to be clear and accurate.

Anyway, I can reproduce and confirm both issues. I've reported them to development. Thanks for reporting @PreAl!

Just out of curiosity: Could you explain why you want to set the instrument inputs to "None", also when storing track presets? Is this because you use them for VSTis like Scaler etc.? Or do you just want the default to be "None" so that you can explicitely choose a keyboard to record notes?

It sometimes helps to give a little context about the use cases because product management can get a better understanding why this should be fixed (soon).

Mostly for track templates and my workflow. Forces me to make a decision about what input to choose later, easier to manage for me.

This can be useful when the "clip automation" is stored on a separate track and we don't want to accidentally mess it up while recording. I have this configuration saved as a "track preset" (the whole folder for each section) and I can easily recall it when creating a new project.
