Dear community,
I would like to know what are the possibilities to export separate track including inserts+fx applied, for mixing into another software (ex : pro tools, Logic). We know how to apply effects and export tracks but how to do it including effect loop FX ? We are recording music and we will have to send the project to sound engineers for mixing |
Track, and or channel stems.
With track stems, they are only the raw tracks. With channel stems, they are out of the mixer. This can include the channels with effects pre fade. It can also include bus, and effects separately. File export If you want every track and event to come into Pro Tools or elsewhere in the same position and with effects, you need to export the song via AAF (Advanced Authoring Format). Here's the skinny on how to do that. Marcus is clear on how best to do this. https://youtu.be/d3vsm-Fq4lw You'll have to render your tracks to audio to do this. *Also DO NOT select to split stereo files. This creates more work for your mix engineer or collaborator. AAF Import and Export (outlined) https://s1manual.presonus.com/Content/Saving,%20Import%20and%20Export/AAF%20Import%20and%20Export.htm Exporting MIDI You can drag-and-drop any Instrument Part to a location in the File Browser to export a Musicloop or MIDI file to that location. As you hover over the Browser, press [Alt] to choose between Musicloop and MIDI file formats. If you drag-and-drop multiple parts at once, they are written to one MIDI file with multiple Parts.

If you solo a track then export mixdown you would have the track through everything even the mains inserts. The tracks could be bounced to include inserts, there's a lot of ways to render a track: viewtopic.php?f=153&t=127 I thought raw tracks are supposed to be raw not wet, someone wanting to master it would have problems with it. We've had a few requests, the solution not as quick as export stems but it's more processing. Maybe that can be a feature request? Export stems and include inserts. https://answers.presonus.com/studio-one ... e-requests

Wet tracks, or effect tracks are in addition to the supporting raw tracks. The dry bare tracks are preferred. What the wet tracks do are two fold. (They must be clearly labeled as well). First, the effect tracks act as a reference track to the mix engineer as to how the effect is used. Lets say a guitar part. The original may have a slew of gear not easily, or at all replicated. Second can support the first. By having a dedicated effect representation of the track(s). The mix engineer literally has the effects bus of exactly what was created. By blending that in, where needed, you have a 1:1 bus return. The mix engineer can back off, edit with, or ride that effect as needed. To your point, it is typically reverb that should remain off of actual tracks. This is (without getting into it) another reason why I usually leave reverb or guitar modelling FX off of inserts and instead placed on a bus. Typically when they include reverb. Want to P a mix engineer off? Provide only tracks rendered with reverb on them. There are only a handful of effect processors that remove reverb, and it's never very pretty. They're also expensive. It's best to leave reverb off main tracks. If the artist wants to include a reference of the master, with reverb, just to show as an example what they'd like. No problem. Just label it ".....w rev ref" as an add on only. If the artist just plain wants effects embedded on to the track. That's fine too. Just leave any (make that ANY) reverb the hell off. Studio One IMO has a very nice stem out dialog window. Very clean, clear, with both track and channel displays. Still, the export AAF is top notch, and eliminates the need for whittling in all the placement of events, or over splicing long track streams.

jean-michellang wroteStem track export is the easiest solution Yeah.... not really easy in the long run in most scenarios. Not by a long shot. MMV of course. Given the original posters request. It's covered.
