Can you copy one track FX and automation envelopes, over to another track?

I've went in and copied automation and pasted it into a different track etc.
Several ways to copy an effect but the only way that I could get it to retain the automation settings is duplicate track (complete) So you could duplicate the track then send it to a different instrument or whatver. Good to put your specs in your signature, click below in my signature.
