This one has got me puzzled.

As I'm editing audio in tracks, then playing back, AutoScroll keeps turning itself off. (No, I am not hitting the F key.)

What idiot thing am I doing to make this happen and how can I stop it?

Thanks!

Switch stays engaged, switching scroll off then back on seems to work, but annoying

I have posted about this, I have raised it at emeetups, I have raised it with a Support Ticket, I have put in a Feature Request (please upvote)

https://answers.presonus.com/76412/auto ... 412#q76412

I have been told this silly feature is meant to be like this. In Cubase you can turn it off or on - but Presonus say they want it to be this way.

So protest, upvote Feature Requests, and raise it at emeetings and on forums.

Please note that I may express opinions that are different from yours but I do not intend to cause offence.

I wonder if the Presonus development will wait until the vote is 600+, or actually take a logical approach and add options to Autoscroll. How about leaving the scroll to user preference, and we'll determine just how "auto" or manual we'd like it.

Very annoying performing a high amount of editing and having the carpet often unexpectedly pulled out from under you. It's a real hindrance on user edit efficiency. .

The problem with Autoscroll is both having it turn on when you don't want it to, and not turning on when you'd like it to.

Make it so there are some variable allowances such as, manual only, auto (as is), or User configure such as, click on a note and it disengages, move a note, alter, etc. from an >>>>options menu<<<<<

I had voted a while ago, but thank you Gary if I hadn't already done so. 👍

Case in point, just tonight, I released another song on Bandcamp. Like so many other sessions, I can't tell you how often Autoscroll trips up editing. Particularly while adjusting a note, waiting to hear the results from the loop turned on, you go to adjust and the page moves on. How thoughtful.

Here's one I truly love (being facetious).
When comping, I drag the edge of a section clip to locate and promote, only the Autoscroll engages, and while it advances, im still holding the edge still, only now its into the next area, totally screwing my positioning. I then have to stop, undo (Control + Z), and return, only to locate, and try again. It's not just comping, it's any note editing where you let the playhead return for a pass or two while you audition the edits of your work.
That doesn't constitute auto resetting Autoscoll.

Auto checkout counters aren't for everyone, Automat food cafeterias died in the 50's, and any support person telling us "that's how Autoscroll is suppose to work" is an idiot.
There, Ive vented. I'm ready for another song now. :)

Please vote. TY!

Good one. There's a good many reasons why people just don't rally behind such things, if or when they're confronted with an issue. Most any issue.
A few possibilies:
1. A good majority of people are inherently lazy. Look at FR's. Only a small percentage of users actuality do the due diligence to get themselves to vote. Even for some of the most logical arguments.
2. They just don't need to fix the issue enough (respectably). A good majority of the forum does indeed include some hardcore users who actually finish songs, audiobooks, live performance sequences, productions. However, a good amount just plain dabble. Don't expect too many hands raised. The lack of actual clock-in and out editing or "time-in" doesn't warrant being an issue, or even being known. Still, they purchase the product. For some companies, that's just good enough.
3. The sad part about #2 is even engineering developers are often guilty of not putting enough time-in of actual end user usage. Oh, the idea is great, only a good amount of improvement comes from both the staff, and the end user. Look at how long automobiles or cars in the 70's were junk. Until a few Japanese manufacturers were both tenacious at development, and corporate started listening to the consumer. It woke up the industry. Without that, corporate simply rest on their laurels, play golf, and think good is good enough.
4. This is only a forum. It is not the vast majority that actually use the product, or even get back to developers with ideas. The feedback simply trickles down (or up). Typically through channels such as their local music store, touring, trade shows, etc.
5. The Questions FR section is fragmented. There could be twenty+ variations of the same subject matter. It's very apparent.
6. A few thousand other scenarios.

So when Gary, someone, or myself suggest for others to vote, it's merely that. A suggestion. The count is currently something like 20 votes. Voting shouldn't be a popularity contest. If that were the case. Great inventors would never get out of the garage.

When I discovered the SO reddit I was surprised how active it is. WAY more than the combined activity of the SO FB group and this forum combined.

Interesting. Yeah, I thought I'd seen that not long ago.

It's the way of public information (and dissinformation) today. Someone drops teen click bait and gets 3M views. But try to get an awareness in a DAW and you get 20 votes. 🤪

IMO, the FR system would get a lot more attention (be taken more seriously?) if it were better organized and easier to use - with a positive track record of having made a real difference for users.

I totally, agree, Bob. The tools are there. It does seem to me there's a bit of disconnect between Presonus representation here. For example, in the old Presonus Forum, people like Rick Naqvi would make themselves visible. Now, I'll find him once in a blue moon on the FB site. That's if there's an issue like when the Fender CEO had his amazing one page idea.
I don't get it, but then again, I'm keeping stock of my own inventory.

Love the company, but I don't get the strategy. As long as they keep the merchandise in check, I'm good.

You do make a GOOD point about PreSonus Non representation on this forum. On the UA forum, Drew is very active in everything from banal talk to getting things fixed. Cherry Audio take a close interest in feedback on their forum. The real exception, and the most consumer aware person here is Lukas. We need to take Lukas and hit the D key 😁

It's just been reported, Lukas was seen boarding a Swedish cargo ship headed for the Lower Antilles. When someone called his name, he ran.

I have been told this silly feature is meant to be like this. In Cubase you can turn it off or on - but Presonus say they want it to be this way.

[Bump]
So the night before last, working in a song.
I kept getting bit by autoscroll. The edits were near the far fight of the screen. When I would try to edit, autoscroll would pull the carpet out.

A common fault of Autoscroll is when you zoom to the selected loop [Shift + L].Loop is turned on. Zoom the loop in about 25% to 50% in order to see notes closer for perhaps extending the trailing edge of a note. The edit screen and/or arrangement view moves to two screens, going back and forth. If one screen does not have an edit or note selected, it moves along in autoscroll. If the edit isn't completed, at one pass the autoscroll turns on. Unfortunately, this can at times be towards the right side, and the playhead moves the screen when the need to complete the edit. Consider, sometimes it takes about one second to grab the note as S1 has a rather overly fine pixel or two, to catch the note edge. If the playhead is near the end of the screen, or you didn't complete the move, you're screwed!

This happened to me about four times in a row, the other night. Very frustrating and unintuitive.

Please see and vote for Gary's request to turn on/off autoscoll. (User options for its behavior). Until then, some bumping is in order.

It's not enough to defeat Autoscroll function or with the F Key, when Autoscroll decides to pick up on its own and Auto itself back again. This is a genuine pain for any thorough editing in Studio One. This does not need to be fixed at some major update, but instead be fixed now.

This and a few other issues will not put Studio One in any serious DAW catagory, when editing is conflicted in such a non user conforming way.

The developers of Studio One might not want to hear that. I didn't like saying it. So please [Vote or no vote] do something about it. I suspect by 6.2 we can give an enormous "Thank You"!
