The one TRUE negative about 6? All the garbage youtube stuff I'm spammed with when I go to recommendations

Honestly, it's insane that these people (almost exclusively negative) whine about things and get paid. Nope, no clickbait here, tell them to go away and they eventually will (like all the garbage trying to be shoved down my throat about a certain person who passed away recently and the endless barrage of commentary that nobody should ever watch)

And of course I keep getting all the K14 stuff .... youtube "algorithms" are janky at best. It's a constant battle!

Bye......

Dont come here often but was looking for the upgrade path, seems to be a lot of negativity about this version, or at least the price.

So I wanted to say a thank you for balance to PreSonus (Fender now? or whoever it was that it was sold to i dont remember, I was concerned at the time, I'm not now!)

Studio one has long been my fav DAW (currently have studio one pro 5, Live 10, Logic X and Reason 12, Studio one is my main DAW and reason as a plugin, logic and live I cant remember when I last opened, and I left cubase at around v5 or v6 so cant comment on that), and upgrade from pro 5 to pro 6 says £129 - got loads of plugins that cost more than that, if the vocoder is decent thats worth the price alone!

Right enough chat im off to upgrade and have a noodle! (I dont know if its included in this version yet but if not PLEASE make the frequency split in the splitter automatable at some point!!!!

Peace!

Yes, this has been improved. You can now drag even large MIDI files directly into the song :)

Hey Lukas, do you know if we can see a whole change log at any point? List of bug fixes, performance improvements, etc?

We normally get this for each version but I haven't seen this yet!

No. I spend a LOT of time lurking, to get a sense of what people might like for the Studio One eBook and the Friday Tips. But I participate only if I think I have something to contribute that hasn't been mentioned, like using the Lyrics feature for narration/audiobooks/podcasts, or how the VI sidechain makes Jam Origin really useful for MIDI guitar. Although maybe I'm the only person who does narration and uses Jam Origin

As to immersive audio, I'm not seeing much consumer interest yet. When I want that "immersive" thing, I have stereo-to-surround upmix plugins to hold me over until something gets traction. It seems more like a game/VR/movie thing than consumer audio, but really, I have no idea where it's going to be in a year or two from now.

Crawling back into my hole now...

Passing on this. Unless I miss my guess the upgrade price from 5 to 6 is about 40 or 50% more than it was from 4 to 5. Plus there's basically nothing in 6 that 5 doesn't do for me. Hell, there was basically nothing in 5 that 4 didn't do. Won't get fooled again. Ha. All the best sixers.

For me personaly a disappointing release:

1. Presonus trying to manipulate non Sphere users to get in to Sphere, because no demo for non-Sphere users avaiable.
Two class society. Thats near to rassism.

2. SamplerOne still the same. No pro features. What a pro sample player is? Well take a look at the functions from the Logic sample player.

3. Still limited workflows and missing basic options for sound designers:
- In V6 still no send on the FX-Bus?
- Send still does not allow feedback return?
- And yet with V6 still no LFO tool included to route to misc VST parameter?

A new included vocoder, and EQ now is dynamic. Thats nice for the starters. Not usefull for a longterm producer, as he already has a ton of VST.

More stuff for the video guys: Cool for them. For me a DAW is no video software.

So in sum V6 is aimed to starters, and whants to attract new customers. Fine, but whats about the longterm users?

Finaly paning options where included. Thats nice. Also the new options to hide a couple of options i do not need to see. Are those two features worth for me upgrading? No.

Lots of window dressing. A few licks of paint. The upgrade price is $60AUD more than it was from 4 to 5. For "improvements" or "features" that an update would have struggled to generate buzz over. Very disappointing. But what can be expected? Every couple of years they have to try to wow people with a new version of sliced bread. The business model can't go on forever. Notably, they've started mining the proliferation of "podcasters" and "youtubers", chasing the money down those paths. Fair enough.

I've been on since ver3 and ver5 has given me the most issues and problems. Two years of that has clicked by and issues never got fixed. Now they're rolling out an even more expensive mirage.

Presonus 6 upgrade will NOT register!!! Yes, I have 5...

Purchased the update from SW and when I try and register it on the Presonus site it sits there and never changes.

Craig

Thanks for your comments on this - as it aligns exactly what I thought when I kept reading (in several different forums) about all these users that were swearing, stomping and yelling if they didn't get ATMOS in S1 v6 - they were out.

I guess that means there are a few less users than before :)

Cheers!

Are you in the right place Mike? you don't use the register new product tab like the pic below. You go into your V5 software tab and there should be a green box that says upgrade next to offline activation in my pic below where it says Registered: Jul 7, 2020 Thats where you put the key.

I'm loving the update, but one minor niggle regarding the quantize section being under the top bar, I know I can unpin it, but I want it back on the top bar as it was in v5. I can`t seem to find anyway to pin it to the top bar? It`s just taking valuable screen space up where it is.

Thanks in advance :-)

I use Jam Origin's MIDI Guitar, Craig. I've had it since it was beta. Great real time pitch to MIDI converter as well.

£129 for the upgrade to V6 might seem a lot but consider this V6 will be around for 2 years if the standard model is anything to go by with lots of point updates which are usually quite generous.
So yeah the upgrade cost might seem a bit harsh but you are buying into the next 2 years of development enjoy.
