There is no drastic change, but when I compare 5 against 6 side by side, 6 looks more refined |

From a Cubase user perspective this seems quite a nice update. Agree with it being quite pricey for those on perpetual licenses moving from v5 and who don't require the video features. But for someone coming (back) in at V6 it seems a really nice milestone to me - certainly very solid for a day one release, and the instrument sidechaining and mixing tweaks are really nice cherries on the cake.
As I see it, this is the start of a cycle and no doubt more shall be added to V6 as we progress, I'm very impressed with how stable and bug free this release is. Well done to the team on that. Little bit gutted that the exchange rate is so poor for us in the UK right now though, Sphere sub is about £5 extra a month vs when I last subscribed. May play a big part in whether I decide to stick with it. |
dougasherman wroteJust cleaning the moths from my brain...I wonder how long it will be before people start including Studio One Track Presets with their VSTs. I was thinking the same thing |

christopherjones24 wroteIt would have been nice to know this 2 weeks ago before I purchased Studio One 5. I could have just skipped to 6. There's a grace period so you'll get v6. https://support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/a ... ace-Period |
Digivolt wrotejazzundso wroteDigivolt wroteCan anybody confirm or deny if the "issue" where you drop a midi over a certain size into a project instead opens a brand new project is fixed/change so the midi goes into the project you drop it into ? Same here - only this issue was keeping me going back to logic sometimes. So i guess it's possible to import midi files to exisiting songs or song templates. A small improvement which is a killer feature for me. |
phillipdixon wroteDAW not connected to Internet at present After watching quite a few videos the past few days, it's subtle, but I'm starting to agree with you. V6 is not visually different enough to disturb people who liked the UI before, but the rework is somehow psychologically more appealing. In fact for me it helped tilt the scales away from the extremely tempting $179 Cubase Pro 12 Crossgrade offer (down from $215 because of international exchange rates), that and the fact I'm also coming around to the value in the other V6 improvements -- not enough to lure me in as an early adopter at full price, but enough that I'll probably take the plunge on Black Friday or whenever the sale kicks in. I also had a play with Cubase 12 Demo MIDI and although for sure it was one of the more attractive parts of the program, I'd say that in the past few years S1 has lifted enough from Cubase to handle most MIDI tasks I'd throw at it, and if the day ever comes I get so deep into it I need more I'll reconsider Cubase. Only thing is, with MIDI2 coming down the pike, the current pecking order could change when hardware and software companies start exploring the possibilities. So that's my decision after seeing the Fender/Presonus effort and Steinberg's big temptation -- stick with S1 for now, especially since at the moment the Arturia Keylab mkII I already own works better with S1 than Cubase. |
reggie1979beatz wroteSubtle IS the correct description. I think Fendersonus did a good job of walking the tightrope between not upsetting folks who liked the GUI as it was and enhancing things for those of us who wished for a little more refinement. Or another way I could put it is I was surprisingly underwhelmed by the Cubase 12 GUI that I fully expected to be seduced by -- but wasn't -- and pleasantly surprised by what I'd consider positive enhancements to S1's look and feel that I wasn't expecting. Each to their own, but I also like having the ability to add track icons. Is it a whiz-bang "game-changer?" No, but it's a nicety I'd use. |
espenaure wrotePresonus. For the love of god. Please do something about that color palette. It hurts my eyes and brain. You know that is fully editable, right? You can make the tracks any color you want. There are dark mode settings, light mode settings....I know someone that has ALL dark on the SO. All his tracks are dark shades of Blue. Just sayin'.

espenaure wrotePresonus. For the love of god. Please do something about that color palette. It hurts my eyes and brain. In fairness, after all the nice things I just said, that is a glaring omission. FWIW, color selection is not a Cubase strong suit, either. Seems like an easy fix to us non-programmers ... but it reality it can't be as easy as it seems, or they would have expanded the palette a long time ago. |

gregghart wroteespenaure wrotePresonus. For the love of god. Please do something about that color palette. It hurts my eyes and brain. Aren't the colors "fully editable" if someone installs that add-on color toolbar -- not with the few colors available stock, many of which are colors men (99% of forum members, or so it seems) typically avoid like pinks, fuchsia, and purples? I'd like to be wrong. Please point me to an easy way I can add to or replace the stock colors and I'll stand corrected. "Dark mode settings" and "light mode settings" are not colors, they're settings. Once again, I'd like you to be right and me proved wrong. |
