I'm trying to apply reverb to all tracks but for only one measure and would like the tail to continue until it fades away. I've added a reverb as an insert, and tried it as a send, on my mix bus. I've created an Automation for the reverb mix button. When turning the automation for the mix button to max at the beginning of the measure the reverb works great but at the end of the measure I turn the automation mix button to the minimum and it completely goes away without the tail.
Essentially I'm trying to get the fading tail to fade as normal without additional reverb being applied to the subsequent measures. Thanks for any help! |
edit, no tail that I can tell.

Gregor or Joe invariably have explained any detail you can think of. Here Joe directly demonstrates for you.

For multiple tracks same concept Joe demonstrates in his first example - using the automation approach he demonstrates. You can use this on the reverb on/off switch.

No, the reverb off switch cuts the tail too. The switch has to be before the reverb but must not disable it, and you don't want to automate the sends on every individual track. So you have to insert a 'switch' in the signal path before the reverb on the FX bus. Mixtool will do fine. And personally I prefer automating gain (with a small slope) rather than a switch, to avoid any 'snaps' especially when multiple tracks are involved.

Here's some basics (in case anyone is interested in this topic).
1) Marcus (one of our best explainers) highlights if you want to be able to edit automation on any Bus or FX track, click the preference for it. By the way, this is a huge help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKlb5b1Io3o&t=19s 2) Tim, another excellent explainer, covers concepts for automating a Bus or FX track in a nice explanation about that topic, from about the 10:15 min mark in this clip he explains how you can add / edit an insert effect's (like reverb) automation lane on the Bus (or FX). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3mm00P ... x=1&t=194s So, without needing to automate sends on lots of different tracks it is pretty straightforward to be able to edit a particular measure with on/off on a reverb, or other parameters on a reverb. (Also, from about 1:18 to 4:00 in the clip above Tim explains how to show automation lanes for only the Arrange View tracks that you want to show the automation lanes in). Also very helpful for clarity. |
