I wonder if it is possible have any associated buses be soloed together with the selected track.
Meaning, if there is an active send, then solo the destination bus with the original track.
Can this be done?

In case of just using busses to route tracks etc., it already works like that. But, like in your case, if you want to hear sends too then make the FX tracks of those sends "solo safe".

PC:Shift + click on [S]
Mac: Option + click on [S]

I usually do this in my template by default for all FX tracks - it just suits my workflow.

(BTW On a Mac it seems to be also shift-click, not option.)
