I know that I can apply sound varriations, and all that to make a note staccato, etc, however, that does not fully work with my Sound Library, as I use Musio, and different articulations are loaded as different instruments and all that. For instance, with the Violins, there is a different instrument to load for Sustain, Legato Vibrato, Legato Non-Vibrato, Staccato, Pizzicato, etc. I was wondering if it was possible in studio one to be able to interchangeably use these instrument articulations on the same track, just so I do not have to create separate tracks for each articulation, since it would be really hard to get separate tracks to sound like one track.
What is the best way to do this?

Yes, you can do this if each articulation is in a single instance of the VI. I don't know Musio very well, but the following works with Kontakt (and should with Play, etc):

If you setup each articulation to have an "Activation Sequence" (right side, lower pane of the Sound Variations setup window) to change midi channel, Sound Variations can be changed from a single midi track.

1 - Setup your midi track to target the player (again, assuming Musio works similarly to Play and Kontakt in this regard - hosting different articulations, addressable from different midi channels).

2 - Create new articulations in the Sound Variation setup, using key switches - C0, C#0, etc.

3 - For each Sound Variation (pizz, staccato, etc), set the Activation Sequence Type to "Channel Change" (last in
the drop down list). Then in place of "Reset" in the next column, type in the channel number, 1-16.

Now, when you enter/create a Sound Variation change in the control lane for that track (right click, "Insert Variation" shows the options), your sequence will switch channels, and playback the right articulation.

Hope that helps!
Exactly what KDM said above. That is the best solution.

That is assuming ofcourse your instrumnts can be loaded in a multi timbral sampler like Kontakt, Play, or similar.

I've already built presets for a lot of it. The sound variations are stored in the presets.

How would I set up these presets to play back the correct library? I am having trouble figuring it out.

It's automatic. You don't have to do anything but copy the presets to your presets folder.

if you drop the Violins I preset in a song it will load and if you haven't yet downloaded all of those various instruments, it will automatically start downloading them.

As for putting the presets in Studio One, go to your \User Data\Presets folder and put them there.

~\Studio One\Presets\ Put the Musio folder there and rescan presets.

Thanks for your help!
I understand what I have to do, just how I should do it is still confusing me. Is it okay if you put step-by-step detailed directions on what I should do?
Thanks!

"User Data" is the path you have set in Options > Locations > User Data. The default is \Documents\Studio One so I'll assume that's where yours is.

- Open a Windows Explorer windows at this location:
\Documents\Studio One\Presets\

Sorry for the error in previous reply, that was the wrong path. :(

- Copy the Musio folder from the zip file to that folder.

- In Studio One go to the Browser Home tab and click the Re-Index Presets button at the bottom.

After that you should see the presets listed in the browser Instrument tab. Drag a preset in to use it.

How do I find the Browser Home Tab?
Also, do I drag the preset after I select "Musio" as the Instrument?
I have a 32-key M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini, so I may be unable to switch presets while reccording. Will the presets automatically shift if I apply articulation sound variations?

Please read at least the basic part of the manual.

The Home Tab of the Browser is the Tab with the Home icon. The Browser is what appears or disappears when you press F5. Please read the manual.

I've tried to do what you said, and I'm testing it out on Flutes. I was able to do the reindex presets, thing. Is it normal for it to load as "Multi-Instrument" when I drag that preset onto the track? I select, "Combine" instruments and Present when asked.

Also, I have a 32-key midi controller, so I can't really switch pre-sets into recording. Will the same thing work if I manually apply sound variations?

It is normal if you select "Combine". If you don't want a Multi Instrument, don't select "Combine". Again, it really helps to read the manual or watch tutorial videos.

I don't understand. Why can't you switch presets and what has it to do with 32 keys? Please ask more precisely.

One thing as well, so I noticed the first time I apply sound varriations, even if I do not select all the notes, it automatically applies that sound varriation to the whole track, even if I do not select the whole track. How do I avoid that?

One previous person who replied mentioned that while reccording, if I wanted to switch channels (which is how Musio Presets work), I had to hit C0, C#0, etc. My midi controller can have those notes, but Not while I'm reccording flute or anything high-pitched (I have to quickly hit the octave buttons, which is impossible to do while reccording something fast).

I have tried searching the manual, but finding information is a different story. Tutorial videos don't seem to have anything specific to Musio.

Here's how you can assign Sound Variations:

Yes, if you want to trigger them via keyswitches, than you need these keys on your keyboard. But you can also do that manually afterwards in the editor.

I figured out about soundvarriations, now I'm trying to figure out how to save my settings as a Preset that I can load as an instrument. (similar to what the guy who made Musio Presents did) I couldn't find where in the manual this was talked about.

Just save an instrument preset. The Sound Variation Map will be saved and recalled with the preset.
