For the past several months, when I go to mix down, bounce a track, or render a MIDI track to audio, there is about a 30 second delay before it actually does anything. Basically, I feel like there is a cache file somewhere that needs to be cleaned up. It's not my windows caches. They are clean.

It's NOT a plugin issue...as it does it even with no plugins on any tracks.

Any ideas what could be causing the delay and what I might check to fix it?

If you think it's cache then try this:
1. Close the song, then delete its Cache folder, then close S1 (to clear its RAM buffers)
2. Open S1, navigate to Preferences > Advanced > Audio and check 'Use cache for time stretched audio files'
3. Open the song, keep an eye on the Cache Activity indicator (the ring of dots in the bottom taskbar)
4. Wait until caching is done, then bounce, render...

Note that the cache WAVs go in the Cache > Audio folder and remain available (also for the next time you open the song) but you can delete them any time you want. Just means that the next time you open the song you'll have to wait until they are recreated.

It must not be that then...because it happens on all songs...even brand new ones....even if I record like a 5 second test on a new song. The delay is getting super annoying.

I think I figured it out. It seems that whenever I use a Roland Cloud instrument, this happens. My guess is it has to "call home" to make sure the license is valid. I remove the instrument, it starts the export right away. I add it back in, there's a 30 second or so wait.

That's a great example of how plug-ins do affect things that people usually think are Studio One issues.

So you actually had plug-ins in your song :) It's good to know that Roland Cloud instruments can apparently cause delays when bouncing/making a mixdown.

Yeah. I was playing with FX plugins, not even thinking that VSTi's could be the culprit. Dumb me.

However, I never thought it was a Studio One issue...I was figuring something was configured wrong on my end.
