I have noticed that if I remove AU plugins from the Components folder on my Mac the plugins still appear in the Studio One 5.5. Plugin Manager. This only happens if I have used the AU plugin in Studio One. The AU plugins only disappear from the Plugin Manager if I restart my Apple silicon Mac.

I have rescanned the plugin folder in Studio One.

Then I found this article on Apple's Developers site stating:

"Beginning with macOS 11, the system loads audio units into a separate process that depends on the architecture or host preference. This increases stability and security by isolating audio units from their host app, and allows loading x86 audio units into an Apple silicon host app"

I wonder if this is what happens?

Why don't you just go to the S1 prefs and disable AU? Thats what I do here

Did you do "Update Plug-Ins" in the Plug-In Manager? That forces Studio One to rescan the plug-in folders.

It's not a problem. I am just curious why it does it.

macOS seams to somehow "wrap" these plugins into a separate memory that is only erased on mac restart.

I have tried AU plugins that are not updated for Apple Silicon Mac and they work fine. At leas the ones I have tried, like Synthogy Ivory and IK Multimedia TR5 Classic EQ and some more.
