Without immaturity and a sense of humor, we're nothing!

Long as we're on the subject, anyone know when Seven will be out?

If you really want to know when Six will drop, I can guarantee it will be as I'm putting the finishing touches on an album release because historically, I've always been in the thick of a project, and can't update until long afterwards.

......but I'm truly ok with that because Studio One has been a very functional DAW for me. It also allows time for any snags to clear out.

Truth be told, until there's a loop [skip] forward feature or Multi Loop, I really don't care what release comes out. ;)

Edit: One more feature wish would be in the notation editor, include Guitar Tablature.

Stay young in spirit!

I would be happy with V5 refined, tweaked, expanded and improved in it's current features.

Presonus is much like Steinberg at this point. Users Beta Test for them and report issues. Nothing gets fixed but hey look at this new feature no one asked for.

I love S1 but man.

Agreed. When i used Cubase i lost count how many problems with versions they had. SX3 was a mess till the very last update for me for example. Sometimes i may come across a bit salty but I love using S1 hence i stick it out.

The reality these days is some versions are not worth the effort for new features vs your sanity. :)

I dunno when it will be released but I'm hoping it has something in it that I want, because with V5 it seemed like they took a list of everything I wanted and went to great lengths to do anything else but that list. I don't need a performance page, I don't need a project page.

I would like a session view like Live, a lyric track, better/more NoteFx options and expanded Chord capabilities. And given the prevalence of VSTs that generate MIDI I'd like to be able to drop those VSTs into a NoteFx slot instead of having to used a second track to connect them up.

There. I just told you exactly what will not be in V6 haha. :D

+ 1

The only thing I really want is for iZotope RX Connect to work as it does in all other supported programs - but I know I probably won't get that in v6 either.

If I take the high road on this - I have to respect the wonderful consistency that Presonus gives me time and time again :)

Cheers!

HI Lokeyfly

I know you champion the Loop Forward function (still no sign of that, tho  ) but the Multi Loop is a new one to me? :?

Hi Leo, Yeah, I brought it up somewhere in the past. Never saw that feature elsewhere but it's based on a lot of usage in DAW's in general. Admittedly a personal need.

Multiple loops (two is all) is based on the ability when using the loop feature, to skip and create an alternate loop elsewhere and not necessarily neighboring. Ultimately to avoid not having to redraw the loop region when either comparing or editing. It would be handy to have two split loops that could be selected by either key command, or continous (finishing one, jumps to the other). They might play similar or separate rolls based on user needs at the time.

There are alternate ways to accomplish this in a few roundabout ways. Loop follows selection for one, selecting portions of arranger sections, or even using markers but these in fact are often used for other things and besides, if they're already in place, it's not a real viable alternative.

Multi or dual loop would be an elegant way to edit, or audition multiple points without the need to go back and re allocate a previous loop region. All the more reason when you have to remember where that loop position was. "Hmm, I think it was the 28th bar, starting on second beat to 4th beat that really flowed nicely into the 37th bar, 2nd beat, but I forget now because I relocated the loop to fix an edit."
🎺 wha- wah waaaah.

As for Loop skip forward, by simply moving the left loop marker past the right, to force the timeline to jump forward (as it already jumps backwards) this could easily be performed, and is an extremely functional operation that most often users of other DAW's have supported my claim it should be in Studio One. [Head scratcher].

Mmv but I base the first dual loop feature as logical high usage needs that I work from. Not what's going on elsewhere. The Loop skip feature is in most every DAW, and I can't understand what the mind block is of Presonus not implementing it. I wouldn't even advertise it as a feature. Just do it.

I can see where those (LoopForward and Multi/DualLoop) would be useful - personally, I probably would not need them, but hey, as you say, MMV ;)

I thought that another minor function that I would find useful would be to set up a loop region, then click and drag the loop along the timeline as a complete unit - when it is landed, then playback/recor (if any) would start at the loop's new start .

Perhaps, eh?

There's two ways to move (unfortunately not drag) the loop range to other locations where one way just moves the region and the other starts the playhead as soon as its moved.

Away from my computer but I'll fire it your way later.

Until then, check the arrow keys < >, along with the shift key. Maybe I modified the shortcut, but I forget.

Talk later.

I don't understand the issue. Hold Cmd/Ctrl and drag the loop range. Done.

The Num1 key always brings you to the loop start. So, just drag your loop and press Num1 to go to the new position. Or use the "Play from Loop Start" command to .....play from loop start ;-)

You can also assign the "Shift Loop" and "Shift Loop Backwards" commands to your keyboard so you can move the loop range around via keyboard shortcuts.

So many options :)

I agree! The marketing and sales departments of all software developers seem to run the show! New features equals additional sales…bug fixes, compatibility and stability improvements equals costs against the bottom line. Seems like every DAW and plugin has the same issues…over complexity which leads to lack of stability and fixes come VERY slowly, if ever. No one company is any worse than the others…they are all using the same play-book. Until we users demand a new version upgrade that is comprised of only bug fix, stability and compatibility improvements and no new features…and we are willing to pay the normal upgrade fee for it, we will most likely continue to see the same issues going forward.
