In MIDI orchestration, I sometimes want the orchestra to "hold", that is, to pause a beat.

Presently, I do this by changing the time signature of the corresponding bar by adding one beat to it and modifying the tempo as I wish, then restoring the subsequent bar into the proper time signature and tempo.

Is there a way to do this better in Studio One?

Thats exactly how I've always seen it done in actual film scoring. 4/4 becomes 5/4 for a bar, then back to 4/4.
