kisnou wroteInstead of making fresh but basic videos for new S1 users, what I would do if I was behind this is to gather the really good tutorial videos they have already made in a playlist for everyone to check out and avoid making new videos that go over that stuff again.

I assembled a spreadsheet of more than 400 tutorials, most Gregor and Joe, and posted it here a couple of months ago. It didn't seem to generate much interest. I really think PreSonus should take responsibility for maintaining a searchable and comprehensive list. You can't learn to use this software with just the manual.

We could if the manual was more comprehensive. The S1 manual is woefully short on detail when compared to offerings from, for example, Steinberg, or Reason Studios. These are both 4 or 5 times bigger than the S1 manual.

There are track icons in S1 that are not even shown in the manual! It's definitely an area where Presonus could do better.

We're currently working on a searchable tutorial video database that allows to search for tags, topics, authors (Gregor, Joe, me, Marcus, ...).

By the way, I looked at your 400 tutorials document. There are very few of my advanced Studio One videos and no Marcus Huyskens videos at all in that list. Why actually?

Also, you wrote "Gregor Byerle" instead of Gregor Beyerle.

+1 to this. Manual is extremely limited. For instance, when I read FL's manual I can learn a lot but S1's manual is just the tip of the iceberg.

Ditto. Whole heartedly agree. I am not a manual guy so to speak,, but one does come to expect a concise manual in this type of DAW, and a professional grade manual has always been an oversight with Studio One. It takes only a few searches to realize missing terms, missing subject matter and lack of diagrams are simply not well laid out. Sure, there is an attempt and its subtly improved, but a proper manual from a proper publisher or dedicated group knowledgeable in creating a user friendly manual by Presonus is sorely needed. If an example helps, I would in fact suggest Cubase, or believe it or not, Propellerhead's Reason which is chock full of lit, and very useful reading, samples, illustrations, and searchable terms. I would add Pro Tools also, but there are just so many supporting books, and manuals out for PT already.
Hearing "oh its fine, put the attention into the program" need not apply. This is about knowing the difference, and it's apparent Studio One needs a far better, far more serious manual. Not a secondary publication. Just a real good manual.

As to Gregor and Joe, they fill a basic need for those looking for some fundamental answers. Nothing less, nothing more. That's fine.

Fornicras wroteI don't mean to offend anyone but Joe's videos are extremely boring. He keeps going out of topic or talking too much about something when it's already quite easy to understand (I know it's subjective but I don't think you need to talk about creating a bus channel for 4 minutes). I also think that he's not that competent with the Studio One software, I saw in some of the videos that he doesn't know how to use certain functions or decides to do it the hard way.

Gregor, on the other hand, is the exact opposite of Joe and knows the software very well, is concise, and provides better "tips" overall.

I wish we could see more of Gregor and less of Joe.

These sorts of opinions should and must be kept to ourselves, in other words if you don't have nothing nice to say about a person, then don't say anything at all!

I like both of there videos they certainly have different styles of teaching

I doubt most know that Joe in the early days of Studio One did over 40 videos covering every aspect of Studio One and was an a pioneer in Youtube video training long before any of the current group.

I very much appreciate what Joe did for the community with his videos I was able to get up and running in a few days without endless searches of the manual

And with Gregor's approach to different areas of Studio One that I don't use often another great resource

Thank you both

Bruce

I still think we should make them wrestle to the death in order to find out who is best. Perhaps make live footage exclusive to Sphere

Ha ha! Wake the dead.

For anyone who doesn't like them, (*&^&*^% off. Honestly, they do a great service for us, what is it you want? "Whaaaaaa, I think they are boring" .... "whaaaaaaa, I don't like this because I'm an entitled elitist who always want my way.
