I have been using Studio One with my 1824c for months.
I recently acquired a Fractal Audio FM3 which is connected to my laptop via USB. When I initially installed the FM3 Studio One was already running and connected to the 1824c. I had shut down Studio One. When I went to restart Studio One I had both the 1824c & the FM3 powered up. Studio One located the FM3 as my audio device, not the 1824c. Studio One won't recognize the 1824c, I just get this message: "The audio device Studio USB could not be initialized. Please check your hardware configuration and try again" Now I cannot get Studio One to connect to the 1824c. It will connect to the FM3. I've tried re-booting the laptop as well as power cycling the 1824c. No dice. I've powered off the FM3 and disconnected the USB cable but that doesn't help. Studio One can connect to the 1824c as a device called 'StageLight 64-bit'. Pretty strange... Curiously the Universal Control panel locates the 1824c. Anyone else had this problem?

So you had one interface and added another which caused problems.
You hooked up the fm3 to usb to send audio signals back and forth over usb? That's using the fm as an interface, you can only have 1 interface. You would have to run audio cables to the fm to use it without it being an interface. When you removed the fm everything goes back the way it was?

I am not using the FM3 for audio. The USB cable is used to edit/setup the FM3 parameters (amp, cabinet, reverb, drive etc.) using FM-Edit.
The FM3 now appears in the Studio One "Audio Devices" list. It was never my intention to use the FM3 as an audio device. I'm guessing the Studio One "discovered" the FM3 by mistake because the FM3 was connected through USB when Studio One started up. Regardless, now when I try to select Studio USB as an audio device I get the message: "The audio device Studio USB could not be initialized. Please check your hardware configuration and try again." To be clear the FM3 is now disconnected from USB and powered down. That doesn't help. I would like to remove the FM3 from the Studio One "Audio Devices" list but I don't know how. I'm still puzzled because Universal Control detects my 1824, including the 1824 control panel, but Studio One does not detect the 1824. Perhaps I need to re-install my Studio One drivers? Please advise. Thanks

You are switching devices manually in Audio Setup right?
Does your old interface show up there?

Yes to both questions. My 1824c shows up as an audio device but when I try to connect to it I still get the same message "Studio USB could not be initialized.. etc.".
Another user gave me a suggestion which was to delete the file 'studio one.settings' which I did but that did not solve the problem. The Universal Control panel continues to be able to connect to my 1824c. I've recently updated my 1824c firmware to v3.05. My Studio One 5 is at version 5.5.1.85792.

Have you checked your hardware devices in Win 10 to see if its there.

Yes, the 1824c shows up in
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers Its icon is a speaker. As I mentioned before Universal Control sees the 1824c. I can also invoke the 1824c control panel out of Universal Control so I know it is possible to not only detect but control the 1824c via USB. I don't understand why Studio One can't see it. I've recently updated my 1824c firmware to v3.05. My Studio One 5 is at version 5.5.1.85792.

I am using a hi-speed USB 3.0 hub. I've been using it with Studio One for over a year.
I tried changing ports on the hub, no love. I'm able to start Universal Control and invoke the Universal Control panel for controlling the 1824. ( I tried to post an image but can't figure out how to do it). I'd be more than happy to de-install/re-install the drivers but I'm not clear on how to de-install and where to locate the drivers I'd need to re-install.

Thanks for the quick follow-up
I've tried by-passing the hub but that didn't work either. I submitted a support ticket yesterday but haven't heard back yet.

The only downloads available on the Presonus site are Universal Control and I already have the latest version which I installed a few days ago (3/2/2022).
To be clear, Universal Control itself woks just fine. I hate to sound like a dolt but I don't know where to go to find/download just the drivers for Studio One v5. I also just checked Control Panel and noticed the Studio One 4 is still installed on my system. I doubt that's the issue but I'm reluctant to remove that lest I further muddy the waters.

Similar issue with my Quantum 2626...
I just updated Universal control a couple days ago. Today, went to open Studio One and I get "no audio device" where my Quantum 2626 is typically seen on the start page. Audio played through the Quantum everywhere else via Asio4All. Windows coould see the Quantum. Universal Control seemed to function normally as well. tried reinstalling and got the same issue. I had to uninstall then reinstall and reboot for it to come back and be seen when inside Studio One. |
Hi Luc,
All I know is that worked for me. FYI I'm using Windows 10. It's the Home Version but Microsoft published an upgrade to it a few months ago that I installed.
