Hi,

I was testing the new Chord-Stack feature in S1Pro 5.5 , but for some reason it doesn't work properly.

I check mark the scale keyboard icon, I select the Scale from the drop down menu i.e. (Major) , I then select the Key, i.e. (C), I double click to create the root key (C) in the key editor, then press ALT and Drag Up, and what I get is not a triad chord with the expected notes. I get this , which is just the scale notes being generated, not chords :

If I choose one of the options i.e. (Major Triad), or (Minor Triad) from the scales menu, then it does produce the triad chords properly. But isn't it supposed to create chords when using i.e. Scale Modes, i.e. Harmonic Minor ? ..etc. ?

I'm not sure if this is the way it supposed to work, or something is not right with the way I'm doing this.

One more thing I need to Press ALT, then Create the Note, keep Left Mouse pressed, and drag up to create the Chord Notes. If I just double click to create the root note, then press ALT with left mouse button pressed, and drag up it won't create Chord Notes, but rather creates a new note when I stopped dragging up.

Any help in getting this to work will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Muziksculp

It is working OK except as you say it creates all the notes in the scale. I am assuming then you need to go in and edit out the unwanted scale notes to form the chord.

At present there are only two chord types provided here. Major and Minor triad. And these work fine. What is needed now is a whole list of chord types so the correct chords can be created in one hit without editing out notes.

Hi @Jemusic,

Thanks for the helpful feedback.

OK, so it looks like all is working as it should on my side. It would be nice to have more chord options in the dropdown menu, currently there are only two available, Major, and Minor Triads.

Cheers,

It is definitely NOT working as expected !

It would be more appropriate to call it what it actually is, "Scale Stack", because it definitely does not create chords which would have been very convenient!

There is so much confusion about this feature. Presonus has called it "Draw vertical stacks of notes" since the beginning, in the release notes, the product page, and it has been explained here : viewtopic.php?p=278131#p278131.

A quick Google search shows that the Internet press, other forums and vendors have decided to call this feature "Chord stack"....

Presonus themselves are calling it a chords stack: https://youtu.be/fcoxHw_N2ag?t=71

It does seem to be one of those features that is a good idea but where they just haven't quite managed to nail the implementation. The key and mouse button drag thing is a bit oddball too. Maybe they will tweak it in a future revision.

Exactly. It was never intended to be "Chord Stack". The Paint Tool has just enhanced to now also be able to stack notes vertically.

Development has just described it as it is. Unfortunately, the marketing videos described it differently.

I called it "stack notes vertically" in my video.
