I am really not sure how this came to be, but I now have a separated volume automation lane in my arranger for a multi instrument, and I'd really like to find out how to move that volume automation into the instrument track so that all automation on that track appears in the one instrument lane.

You may have inadvertently created the automation lane next to your target track, then rearranged the track position with other tracks. It happens. Happened with me the other day.

First, expand automation lanes on your target track to see if you already have volume automation there already. In any case, now drag the orphan volume lane into the automation area. Be sure not to drag on to the track itself, as that will layer over the track.

It's my guess you'll have it back in place. Another way would be if you have two volume lanes (one inside tracks and one out), then place the song play marker at zero (works best and avoids shifting). Copy that outside automation region, and paste to the inside volume automation track. You can now delete the orphaned volume track.

Just a side note, in case you have hidden any automation from your track, open the tracks editor [Horizontal lines] (I modify this to the F1 key). Then locate the highlighted track in that tracks editor. Open the arrow and that will show you what is hidden. And that if you select the dot(s) there, you un-hide those automation lanes.

I haven’t tried this but, in the spirit of S1’s drag&drop philosophy, what happens when you drag&drop the automation lane onto the track’s fader?

Thank you! The drag & drop worked exactly as you described. The volume automation lane is now a member of the envelopes attached to the instrument track.
