I’m wondering if there’s a way to route it to a track or bus so that I can have a full channel strip for it? Yes, I’m aware of the controls on the output bus and that I can bounce it to audio, but I’d really just like to reroute it for my song templates without having to bounce it, if possible? Yes, I’ve and it looks like it’s not possible, but maybe someone has found a way. TIA!

S1-094 Setting Up a Click Track in Studio One

Thanks, but shows exactly how to do what I said I’m NOT asking for. I know I can do that, but I want to simply route the metronome output to a dedicated track or bus WITHOUT bouncing or rendering (I.e., the way I can in Logic, Sonar/Cakewalk, and less elegantly in PT). This is for a template that will be used for many songs of varying tempos and durations, and sometimes I want to pan the click, or follow tempo maps, etc., so the ability to simply route the metronome to a dedicated track or bus makes things far simpler. In Logic, for example, there is a drop down box in the metronome settings that lets me choose e.g., Bus 17, which I name “Click” and it’s always there in my new song ready to go, I can easily adjust with a giant slider from my iPad, pan it, add sends to other buses, or whatever, yet I still have the flexibility of changing the sound, don’t have to dick around with re-rendering it, or automating tempo changes, If it can’t be done, then that’s the answer and I’ll adapt to it.

Unfortunately, the only way would be render it (as you're seeing). Too bad we have to actually stamp the metronome to become a track/channel. Sure the tempo would change, but what if on the fly, one wants to alter the tempo by changing its bar/beat phrasing within the metronome controls. You'd have to re render. Kinda clunky.
I would create a feature request for a real time click track like so many other DAW's just readily have. One may already be in place. OK, Onward and forward. Check if there is a metronome VSTi and you could then set it up as you need, add effects, etc. I might look into one myself. Here's one called MMetronome from Melda. You can get it in their free bundle download. https://www.meldaproduction.com/MMetronome
