When I’m done processing a channel I usually make a note of the panning and fader settings then reset them to unity and center.

I transform to Rendered Audio then return those panning and fader settings. I do this so the adjusted panning and volume don’t get baked into the track

I’ve noticed though that during the rendering process I will get a clipping notification accompanied by the amount value.

I’m processing in 32 bit float and using the K-20 setting on the stock level meter. Should I be concerned about this clipping notification?

1. When you return your fader to Unity and your panning to center you are in fact increasing the VOLUME there which is causing your clipping.

2. Turn down the fader and you should not be clipping. Try a 3dB drop. Clipping the main out is clipping in S1 when it gives you that error :thumbup:

3. The whole purpose of the RENDER is to bake those settings in :punk:

I should’ve been a little more specific. What I was trying to preserve was control of the balance relationship.

If my Kick Out is at unity and my Kick In is -5 on th fader after I render they will both say unity

In a similar way if my Overhead left is panned left 40% after I render it will tell me it’s centered so if I come back to this session many months from now to do revisions my panning decisions could be in accurate.

Curious as to why you need to render at all in that case?

If you leave the Song as is and simply Song/Export Midown your settings are preserved.

A simple solution to this is turn down the Master Fader when Rendering

If you're just trying to save on processing but need to preserve faders/pans why not duplicate track (regular, not complete) then add a mix tool to the second track that increases gain by the same amount as your fader on the first track.

Transform the first track to Rendered Audio, ALT+Drag the audio event to the second track.

At this point you can Disable the first track or put it back to Realtime Audio and disable it. I have a hunch that the second option would reduce a step if you need to fix something, and possibly make opening the session years later easier if you need to.

Limiter set to “0” utilizing K20. It catches the peaks. Who would’ve thought the solution would be so simple?
