Is there an option for pitch shifting in SO?
I looked for a plugin, but I dont see a pitch shifter. I found a video from a while ago, and Joe says there should be a transpose function on the Inspector page, I shoved everything up and down to check is it was hidden, but I dont see it. |
There are some little used parameters below the slider in the inspector, you have to slide it way up.
The tune parameter can come in handy. Only on audio files.

That's the tune parameter. Speedup worth a look also.
I don't know that it's in an FX channel though, have to look about that. I don't see it. You can add automation to the fx channel and that would get you a place in the tracks so info in the inspector but doesn't look like tune is available.

Might be the easiest ways I've come across to tune, change pitch or transpose. Just be sure to bounce the track afterwards if you want it permanent, or adjust the MIDI as necessary.

maartenfranken1 wroteI dont want to transpose files, I need to set a few cents +/- on the left and right signals of an FX channel. There is not a “pitch shifter” in the way you are thinking. You can transpose audio events as the other posters mentioned but you are not able to set the left and right channels’ tuning independently and blend it in as you are looking to do. If someone said you could do that, they were likely referring to the longer process of splitting a stereo track into two mono tracks, panning their contents, tuning them as desired, and using a bus to blend them with the original. It requires a lot more editing than a true pitch shifter insert. |
You need a third party plugin to do this effect properly. I have got two and they are both great. Waves make a nice one and so do Eventide. The Waves one that I have has 4 voices and they can all be panned and volume set too.
https://www.waves.com/plugins/ultrapitch https://www.eventideaudio.com/products/ ... micropitch The Eventide has the nicer sound I feel. You can get them on special. These plugins are great for just fattening and widening a stereo or even a mono source. For example I have got a Korg DW8000 synth and some sounds really benefit from using one of these. Set very slightly above and below normal pitch you get the sense you are hearing three of these synths instead of just one. They are both very low latency and can be used live with instruments too. You can use these on audio and Instrument tracks. This is something the stock plugins could maybe include in the future.

Agree Jemusic, the Evintide Micro Pitch is awesome. Of course if the OP isn't changing the left or right sides from each other, he's already set. If so, Evintide has always been synonymous with great pitch hardware, and soft.
There's a number of pretty descent software pitch shifters. Izotope's and Melda being two of them. Izotope's Radius is impressive. Be it phase coherence, or even changing pitch to shifting formants,.etc. http://help.izotope.com/docs/rx5/Time_and_Pitch.html#:~:text=iZotope%20Radius%E2%84%A2%20is%20a,space%20of%20the%20original%20recording.
