Got to admit I haven’t but I’m sending a reminder to my studio p.c. and I’ll give it a try next time I fire up S1.
Thanks.....

Did anybody bother having a go at this?
Yes - didn’t solve the issue but thanks anyway....

Not surprising to me. This "crash wizard" or whatever you call it is a brand new feature on a major point release (5.2.0). Minor point releases straight afterwards generally concentrate on fixing issues with new functionality as a priority (regression issues). Also whilst the issue isn't a showstopper, it's hardly trivial either.

Fixed in 5.2.1?

This is happening to me a lot too (under 5.2, anyway). Not 100% of the time. But roughly 40-50% of the time when I close a song.
Haven't worked with 5.2.1 enough yet to determine whether this behavior is no longer happening. |
Baphometrix wroteThis is happening to me a lot too (under 5.2, anyway). Not 100% of the time. But roughly 40-50% of the time when I close a song. I came home, installed 5.2.1 and loaded the last two songs I always had problems closing on 5.2. Open them, closed them - try to start Studio One = 'instance is running' - closed Studio One in Task Manager. Opened Studio One - crash wizad pops up with no specific crash reason indicated. So I presume nothing is fixed I noticed that every time I close a song that would cause this problem the mouse cursor turns into a circle for a very short time, as if a certain process is triggered - after that the Studio One window is closed. I don't see that cirlce when I close the songs that won't trigger a restart. |
I'd suggest you shall contact support to isolate the issue.
There might be some 3rd party plug-in causing this, most likely its copy protection which isn't easy to debug. 5.2.1 shouldn't automatically restart when you close it by hitting ALT+F4 or via menu anymore, regardless if something's crashing in the background, doesn't it?

For me, since the update, S1 is no longer restarting on it's own. I am still getting the new screen every time I open it that tells me it cannot start S1. I have to tell it to start normally. This is annoying.

I have to tell it to start normally. This is annoying. Try temporarily moving your plugin folder/s to an empty folder. If that doesn't work try unplugging everything USB except keyboard and mouse. If that works try then try and rule out specific devices and plugins. Edit - you could also try disabling the VST2 and VST3 services in S1. That may be easier. If it doesn't try wiping your settings or even reinstalling studio one. If your issue gets resolved please let us know exactly what you did.

Pre Al - I was working with support on these issues. They had me try several things, including giving up my preferred anti virus and switching to Windows Defender. When nothing worked, they turned it over to the developers and told me to wait for this update. Well, the update solved half the issues.

Well then I would try the things I suggested except the things support already told you to do.

An update:-
I’d been having the shutdown/restart issue then my p.c. threw a minor wobbly and following a restart the issue ceased - shutdowns as expected. I’ve since updated S1 to v5.2.1 and this problem has not reoccurred - he says tempting fate - cue Twilight Zone music...!!

Steve Carter wroteAn update:- If it does I would say uninstall your audio interface drivers, reboot install them again (latest). Make sure the firmware is up to date and windows update is up to date, and you don't have anything like ASIO4ALL installed.
