Recently I had this problem. When I would open third party plugin (not all plugins) and drag them to my second screen, after closing, and when I try to reopen they would appear black, no GUI and than I would have to "End Task" studio one and start over.
This was very frustrating because even though my screens are not same resolution, my PC is new (few months old) and all drivers are up to date. I tried enabling, disabling high DPI inside S1 and it didn't help. After some GPU drivers tweaking (NVidia control panel) I managed to have Waves plugin on second screen, but than they would crash randomly. And for example Arturia plugins would crash anyway. This lead me to believe that it has nothing to do with S1 but those plugins. I downloaded free Reaper and experience the same thing. So than, after all day re-searching the web, I found that these plugins (Waves, Arturia, and some others) are OpenGL plugins. And for some strange reason OpenGL is making this problem. On Nvidia forum, I found app that would limit FPS in Vulkan, OpenGl and DirectX. All of the sudden the problem is solved. Than I tried limiting FPS inside Nvidia Control Panel, it didn't work for some reason. If anyone had this problem and managed to make this work inside GPU drivers, I would really like to know how. I also tried limiting FPS inside RivaTuner but it's also not working. For all of you who might have this problem, I found this topic on nVidia forum that helped me with FPS limiting: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/fo ... l-directx/ |
OMG I LOVE YOU.
This finally did the trick. I started a thread about S1 freezing randomly, and this 100% fixed the issue. I knew it had something to do with OpenGL, but I had no proof. I even tried the nVidia tools, and they didn't work, so I thought it was crazy, but the errored plugins always had some sort of graphical issue displayed when the freeze would happen. Either the plugin window would get all messed up, or it would look like no audio is going through the plugin whatsoever, and it seemed to happen randomly, and on any plugin. Once again, thank you. For reference, I ended up using FPS Limiter for Vulkan, OpenGL, DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 [v1.2.4] https://niftucal.blogspot.com/2018/09/fpslimiter.html |
firegs wroteOMG I LOVE YOU. Hey, I'd like to try that as well. I have a few questions though: - How did you edit the cfg file? I have no idea of how and what to type in there. - Do you open it everytime you launch studio one? Do you do that manually? Thank you!

Hi,
So if you want to open cfg file, you can use notepad. I have everything on default. InitialFps=60.0 ToggleFps=59.0 CompatibleMode=0 If you know how, you can make it load when windows startup, I manually open it every time I before I start working, minimize it, and I don't turn it off. It takes 2 seconds to do that |
aleksandarristic wroteHi, Thanks! Have you found any other tweaks that you think can improve performance in S1? For example, I have a problem that causes the graphics to stutter while scrolling in some projects, which are not even that big. I have a 3060 graphic card and I am wondering why that happens.

Unfortunately I can't help you there. It might be just graphic interface of S1 or some plugins causing that. Sometimes I can see graphics stutters (like big frame drop), that happens for a second. Usually when I open my mixer. That's the only place I notice that.
