Can someone please show me how to activate automation for midi note transposition? Thanks!

I'm using an instrument track to send midi notes to an external Synth. And a 2nd (audio) track to capture the audio coming from my interface. 2 tracks in total.

Hit a to enter automation mode and opened the inspector on the instrument track and clicked the transposition field.

A hand icon for the transposition function appears above the inspector. So far so good.

Now when I try to drag'n'drop this onto the instrument track (as I usually do) I see a "forbidden" icon.

ps: Studio 1 4.6.2

Welcome to the Forum!

Haven't seen automation used to transpose notes before. Usually easier to just put the note on the pitch you want.

Have you looked at Scalar? It does a lot of things with midi, transposes scales etc.

Maybe you can go through what you're trying to do?

Thanks for the welcome :)

So is not possible, right?

working on a deep house kind of track right now, lots of min7 and 9th chords.

I love to automate transposition on chords (like in Ableton) to quickly come up with progressions or melodic chord stabs that would take to much time in the piano roll to do manually. Just draw in the semi tones and have fun.

for instance

I know Scaler but I'm not going to shell out 50 bucks just for a trivial feature :)

Isn't there nothing like a stock transposition plugin that I could place on the midi track?

So you don't want to draw in the chords, you have a controller keyboard?

You have a chorder plugin:

If you just draw in one chord then duplicate it a bunch of times the chord track can change the chords for you.

Thanks a lot!

ps: a bonus question (but it's not import) I was thinking if the hand symbol above the inspector cant be dropped onto the track perhaps there another case for it?

Update: the chorder plugin isn't as straightforward or flexible in transposing midi like Live does. So hopefully Presonus will add midi transpose to the automation lane.
