Having stability issues with 4.6.2, I was waiting for an upgrade sale while I researched a supplemental/replacement DAW. Loving Cubase's mixer, I was hoping it was the one, but couldn't gather enough info to change my mind. And that damn dongle.

But S1 has been more stable lately. My Komplete Kontrol still disconnects after closing then opening a 2nd or 3rd song. But dropping midi from plugin sequencers to S1 hasn't crashed S1 in a while.

So do I stick with what's kinda working or jump on the sale? 50% off would've made this easier. It would be nice needing a single track for my hard synths. I'm curious how this works with the Moog Minitaur Editor though.

Really disapointed with this one. 30% made it £84 for upgrade from 4 pro to 5 pro it says including applicable taxes, but when I get to checkout theres £15 VAT, is that not an applicable tax. so backed out. Have to stick with version 4 I guess.

On Presonus site, upgrade from Studio One Professional V4 to v5 is £89 (plus change) - on the checkout page this is shown to include £14-odd VAT

Yes, it is £89.88 total. But it's still too much for me during a very bad year, so I have to pass I'm afraid.

:( sorry about that

Dunno if I'm going to update, although I don't have any real problem with the £89, there isn't anything in v5 that I'm desperate to have that I haven't in v4 - maybe some of the changes under the hood? Maybe wait until next year's BF, perhaps?

V5 hasn't really added any features that wow me so I figured I'd wait for the 50% BF discount. That hasn't arrived so I'll stick with v4.x for now. Maybe V5.5 will wow me or maybe Presonus are moving in a slightly different direction to me and V4.x will be my last version. Anyway, the best BF savings are where you don't part with any money at all

Has there ever been a 50% discount on upgrading?

I'm excited about Clip Gain Envelopes for one:

Yep. Last year and the previous year at least. Possibly before that.
Of course, PS are free to change the offering in the same way that I am free to choose not to take it up! The cynic in me wonders if they are trying to push more people towards a Sphere subscription.

Clip gain envelopes are ok but nothing I don't already achieve by other means. They would not really change my workflow but I know others are raving about them. Different strokes, different folks.

I just can't help having the feeling that Presonus have somewhat run out of steam with V5, which is hardly surprising given the astonishing pace of developments in previous versions. I wait to be delighted by a future point update at which point I'll eat my words! :D

Yeah I was going to upgrade at 50% off, but at 30% I can continue waiting.

The only things interesting in 5 for me are the mac GUI increased performance (though I've read it causes problems with plugins), and the atom updates. So I can wait till 5.5 or 6.

I've usually upgraded in the Spring (not sure what the occasion or discount was).

Like many others there's nothing in v5 I 'gotta have'.
I've been doing just fine w/ v4.6.2. ;)

Has PreSonus ever had Christmas time discounts on Studio One upgrades?

Like many others who’ve had a lean year I was looking to upgrade when a -50% discount was in the offing, especially as neither v4 nor v5 has really rocked my boat as far as new features are concerned, I’m effectively upgrading just to keep the software up to date.

However, maybe Presonus has had a lean year also and can’t afford to be as generous with a discount as they have traditionally been!

Anyway, PayPal are offering me a ‘pay over 4 installments deal’ so maybe I’ll take the bait - still undecided though....

Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Faderport, Focal Alpha 50's, Korg Pa3x, Korg Pad Kontrol, numerous guitars, basses & other antiquated outboard gear.
Maybe one day I'll actually finish a project!

With the M1 going so strong and S1 unsupported already looking at that other DAW... 50% would make me invest in S1 just in case, 30% meh...

I agree with the sentiment that a 30% BF discount is a bit disappointing..
For now 4.6.2 is good enough for me..

4.6 good for me as well. I'm using win 7 so that has largely been my update barrier. I would love the snapshot mixer and wave edit control that v5 offers.

No biggie though.

I think this year has genuinely impacted folks, and where I usually might chime in with "Well, does a 20% change impact your need for something that one would wait perhaps months to sit on?". However, in this case, I think there is a real truth to people being in a financial lull, and in fact it is a global one. Not based on any news but speaking with family abroad. I would say that there should be a 50% offering here, but again that's just me bolstering a complaint that I normally wouldn't.

C'mon Presonus. You have a very loyal customer base. I understand you are not exempt from the hard times as well, have to meet a budget, payroll, R&D as well. In this case, by hearing from what seems to be many (and how many are we not hearing from?), a 50% sale of S1v5 would actually re enforce your relationship with customers proving even better long term profit.

Your choice.

In fairness, a lot of music store retailers have 30% off above say $200, with 20% below (average). Software companies are a bit all over the place. Since Presonus is hardware and software, then the 30% black Friday sale isn't way off at all. Whatever it is, there's always another take on it. DAW software typically doesn't drop to 50% off until well into its release. I'd probably expect S1 to reach that at around March/April of next year. The point remains, this year does bring some financial umpact to many. Not all, but certainly a considerable and uniquely rare percentage.

P.s. I won't get to benefit from any % sale at the moment, but I think it's a worthy point to make because I care how Studio One and its company progresses.

I see Plugin Discount has the 5 upgrade for about £80 ( $104 )...if I buy this, do I actually "upgrade" from 4 to 5 and lose V4 ?
