"New problem with 4.6...!?

After analyzing/ editing with Melodyne (latest version 4.2.4) I'm no longer able to open the event in the edit page, either from the edit tab, by clicking on the event or from the faderport - only the Melodyne gui is opened, the S1 'Edit' page is no longer availble for said event!

I've checked this on an old song and a new song in S14.6, same result. Opened S1 3.5 and behaviour is as expected i.e. a 'Melodyned' event can be opened either in the 'Edit' page or the Melodyne gui.

Anyone else experiencing this?

For PreAl this also occurs in existing songs and newly created song with just one Melodyne analysed track and no other plugins open!

I'm talking to myself - could be I need more medication - anyway, no input for this post after a couple of weeks so I guess this is a problem unique to me... (My wife would say not the only one).

So, what's the safe way to uninstall S1v4 and then reinstall without losing backup files and other S1 registries like locations (which I lost last time and took ages to rebuild again!)?

On my side, I can confirm that we do not have a choice of which editor we want to use between Melodyne and Presonus once Melodyne is engaged.
Don't know if this is by design now. I'll ask around too.

Thanks for responding guys, looks like I'm not unique after all... It would appear to be a bug! This does not occur in S1v3.5.

OK, you're not the only one.
I was using Melodyne a few days ago and noticed this too.

When zooming in to fix minutia, I like to ensure I'm on the correct note(s) and within the correct event/location by using S1's editor too... but couldn't.

P.S. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Melodynes' editor GUI.

Well Steve it appears that it is still not fixed in 4.6.1

Again this just proves that the QA dept is NOT doing their job. How large a font did Steve have to used, in the first place, to get their attention?

This is not good enough. TEST THINGS PROPERLY!!!. This is not some obscure bug. This sticks out like "Dog's dusters"

Now I suppose we have to wait another 2 months to even see if it gets recognized.....

Update: As of Studio One version 4 when the Pattern Editor was introduced, the Studio One audio editor is not available when using Melodyne to edit instead.
So this change was by design.
Hope this helps.

Mmmm....
By design - why?
I obviously missed this because I bought into v4 when it was on offer some time after its release and didn't actually start using it until after the 4.5 update.
But again why the change? - I can imagine a conflict between editing in the edit page and melodyne if the event isn't rendered first but I hadn't noticed any problems with the workflow previous to v4 and the problem only became noticeable when I opened a song in v4 and ... hang on a minute, why can't I do that - what's gone wrong?

Thanks and regards
p.s. Still waiting on an answer from support!

As far as I know, this is how it has always worked. As a workaround, You can always remove melodyne, go make your changes and then reload it or you can print your track with melodyne's changes and then edit that track.

You'll know you're an old rock-n-roller when the only spandex in your pants is in the elastic waistband. :D

Yes that's what I have always done. I did not have a need to use both editors at the same time so it was never a concern for me.

I allready checked this and in S1v3.5 it is possible to open an event with Melodyne analysis in both the Melodyne shell and in the S1 'Edit' page. So my question remains - why has this changed?

I suppose the question is what else would you want to do to that audio in the native editor that technically isn't even what you're hearing. The audio you hear (afaik, anyway) is coming from the Melodyne cache, not from the audio event on the timeline.

ARA appears to recognize splits, fades, clip gain, mutes, position, etc, from the timeline event but what else do you want to do that can't be done in the Melodyne editor? (not a judgement, just a question)

Thanks for the interest but as my query has been ongoing for some time now (on more than just this thread) I can't actually remember what I was doing, or trying to do at that particular moment in time and I've already intimated that I'm aware of possible conflicts in trying to edit in both formats (Melodyne vs Editor) simultaneously.

What I do remember is that I attempted to perform an operation within S1v4 (i.e. open a Melodyned event in the edit page), instinctively, as I had many times before in previous versions of S1 and it wasn't available to me.

My best guess would be that I was possibly looking for information/clues as to a possible edit in the 'Wave' format rather than the 'Blob' format. I know that I can expand the track event to see similar but I usually just open the Edit view.

Yes, there are workarounds and I'll have to modify my work habits to accomodate the change made in S1 if as previously stated this was a conscious decision made by the developers to limit access to the edit page for events with active Melodyne analysis.

Still no response from Presonus!
