Hi,

I recently switched from Reason to S1, and have been trying to do the following thing:

Have a .wav drumloop sliced into individual slices, and then create a midi clip that auto-maps the slices to the original loop.

In reason this would be the workflow:
-bounce wav to rex
-load rex into octorex device
-right click octorex and click "copy track to loop"

It would look like the screenshot below

Now, in S1 I can do all the slicing with even more possibilities (auto sensitivity slider) and then send to impact for individual triggering, but the part where I can automap to piano roll is not possible as far as I can see. Is this possible at all?

Nobody? So not possible then in studio one?

I might be wrong but I don't think that is possible in S1.

Studio One does not offer this feature as yet.

It's Rex as an instrument that is slicing, auto mapping and recreating the midi track to play back the loop the same way. Another approach to it might be to seek out a 3rd party instrument that offers the same features. Run that inside Studio One. (Note the Reason virtual synth rack is available as a plugin now for any DAW. Even at the basic level, you get all the synths you need to do this) Here:

You could manually slice (detect transients and cut out all the one shots) and map those sounds to say Sample One XT. Then you would have to create the midi file yourself. Unless you create a new groove with the sounds that are mapped and ready.

The slicing can be done in Impact automatically but there is not yet a way to have the midi notes show up automatically.

As a third party VSTi for rex files I would recommend SliceX (Image Line),
and perhaps Vice (New Sonic Arts) if its wave-files only.
