I am composing for video and I sometimes get mpeg files sent to me but I can't open them i S1 4.5 so I have to convert them to a format that can be opened. Is there a codec to install so I won't have to convert the files?

I've had that it does not load only due to not supported audio - like 5.1 surround and similar.
Other reasons can be that copy protected, if directly from a disc. So thinking is that maybe mpeg-2 itself is ok - there can be other reasons it does not load. Normal mpg files should work - but tested and it says "codec not supported" on one I have so, So guess that conversion is needed. But if really large files and a lot of work - another approach could be to use a player that is synced by MTC(midi time code). One such player is here https://vidplaymtc.com/index.htm I've been thinking of using it on a laptop to sync video - since not all instruments are rigged in studio so I see preview on daw computer. Another VST plugin http://vidplayvst.com/downloads.htm also works the same way as internal video player in studioone. I tested and it loads the mpg file studioOne did not. Only disadvantage of VidPlayVst in StudioOne is that if moving between markers and transport is stopped, it does not sync video immediately unless you start/stop transport shortly. When transport is running this is not problem. |
Studio One Windows should load any video that will play in the MS TV app. It uses the Media Foundation I think ...
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... foundation File extensions with video can be misleading sometimes though as some apps will render something and put a common file extender on it that's not a normal or supported codec underneath. |
