Anybody been in this situation before?

Any time I use a Sampler / Simpler instrument that accesses samples or whatnot, I get a hard disk overload at every note on message played from Studio One going to Ableton

Studio One rewire master
Ableton 10 rewire slave
Ableton 10 being used as an instrument in SO
Audio running back to Studio One

I've tested it on different computers (mac laptop, mac desktop), interfaces, buffer settings, different settings in Studio One regarding monitoring and low latency modes. Always an HD overload in ableton at every note on. I have also tested different sample locations. Tested it with samples on the same disk as ableton, tested it with instruments located on an external SSD (through USB3)

CPU usage seems fine and playing virtual instruments in Ableton works great.

There's something about playing sample base instruments over Rewire that causes a Hard Disk Overload. the same patches do not overload when played in Ableton directly (even if it is a Rewire slave).

Thoughts?

If this looks familiar to anyone I was able to work around it by setting my tracks in Ableton to Monitor: In instead of Monitor: Auto. No idea why. E-mailed ableton to get more information

Hi !
Regarding your first post and FWIW:
I tested that all and tried to exactly replicate your issue but no diskoverload in Ableton Live for me.

I am using latest versions of S1 Pro and Live on OSX 10.14.5 Beta 1.
My Samples are on an external USB3 Samsung drive, connected to an USB3 port on my Macbook Pro 2015.
Audio Interface: UAD Apollo Twin - Thunderbolt version.
Buffersize in S1 and Live: 512
Samplerate: 44.1 Khz.

Glad you got it sorted, Rob. Seems the monitoring path in Ableton was it. Just in passing, as I don't use Live, but I Rewire extensively with S1 to Pro Tools, and S1 to Reason and have never come across that HD overload message rewiring with those programs. Anyway, good to hear others are using the Rewire feature. It is a fantastic way to explore, or port over sounds while writing. Nice!
