As much as I enjoy working with Studio One (and I really do), it’s things like this that give Cubase an edge in film scoring.

Agreed. You should create a Feature Request for this!

Thx for sharing.

You might also want to look into Nuendo, for the most extensive mixing of audio for film post production and automation. No DAW can be all things to all people. The capability of one can often be matched by the simplicity of another, and and vice-versa.

Like Bbd says, create the Feature request. Or use the DAW that works for your needs.  :)

Sure, I'd guess everyone wants some sort of edit mode to synchronize audio to video in Studio One, or existing DAW. I'm sure if that level of Audio-Video  integration can happen within Studio One, it will. Perhaps even within another Presonus program. The syncing, time, and allocating of audio-video space, for that "edit mode" needs to be further explained, imo.

I agree that this kind of time-stretching /mapping to video events would be awesome in Studio One. Having said that, we're probably at a time in music technology where no one hardware /software solution meets all applications (if it ever did) but Presonus have come damned close with the Studiolive Series 3 and Studio One 4.

Totally agree. And I do use multiple DAWs depending on its strength vis-a-vis project requirements or my objective (or mood if it’s a personal project).

I find S1 really easy to “get it done” in most cases. It’s very intuitive. Even if I spend a lot of time in another DAW, the “refresh time” to get back up to speed with S1 is always pretty low. Logic is probably the next most straightforward DAW for me in that sense, then Cubase. Cubase is very powerful, but not nearly as straightforward. By the end of a project, things are fine. But that first day or two...bleh.

So, yes, use the DAW for you that works best...but I can dream of the tweaks that would make such hopping less of a thing! :)

@nk_e I assume you use Cursor follows edit position in Studio One?

Voted up for it.

As usual, I hope the quality of FR's outweigh the quantity of FR enhancement requests.

On a side note, nk_e, you being familiar with Logic, why in the world does Studio One not have the ability to reverse the loop start and end points, to advance the timeline? Or with such programs as Cubase to simply drag the loop start point, past the end point to advance it that way?

Behooves me.
That feature would also be further realized when syncing audio to video. The video would jump, appropriately. Great for auditioning audio/video transitions instantly. No scratchpad anxiety. Just an elegant way of doing things.

Anyway, please help nk_e and the rest of us see an actual audio to video by frame sync, where timing can be shuttled, and maneuvered as shown.

Usually I just use the key command. Why?

Enabling it approaches a few points from your request.

"Cursor follows edit position" does much the same thing as Edit Mode in Cubase - in fact it is nearly identical (I am a longtime Nuendo/Cubase user looking at some features in Studio One 4 for film scoring).

One negative about Cubase' Edit mode is that the vertical cursor disappears (except in the timeline ruler) when it is active.

Another aspect I don't like about Edit Mode (and Studio One's version) is that the cursor jumps to every selected object. It would be more useful for that ("cursor follows selection") to be a separate edit preference, and allow video to follow manual edits separately.

So, other than the disappearing cursor, "Cursor follows edit position" is identical to Cubase' Edit Mode.
