never used a midi controller and looking for a keyboard controller that integrates easily with studio one . currently got my eye on the alesis vi 25 and the novation impulse 25. any better choices that i should consider? i do want drum pads and full size keys. that 200 dollar range is about it since i 've never used midi before. always recorded everything miced or DI

Have a look at products available: https://www.sweetwater.com/c513--MIDI_C ... s/low2high If it puts out midi then it works with S1 as far as keyboard input goes. Then most things can be mapped to most functions. Find what you really like the looks of then see what's involved in getting it to do what you want. You want to play/record some keyboard?
