Is it normal to have to re-activate Studio One from time to time?

Hi Peeps,

I am currently trying out my licensed Studio One 3 Pro on my new Surface Pro.

Last night, all was fine but when I started Studio One this morning a dialogue box popped up telling me that it was not licensed on this computer.

I am currently touring around Europe (Bruges as I type) so if I had been unable to access the internet, due to no wifi or phone signal, in order to re-activate Studio One I wouldn't have been able to use it this morning.

Any ideas as to why Studio One thought it wasn't licensed?

cheers

andy

Andy-

Please create a Support Ticket for licensing issues:

Create a SUPPORT TICKET and/or Post Issue.
Needs to include: 1) One Sentence Description 2) Expected Results 3) Actual Results 4) Steps to Reproduce.[/b]

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking of raising a ticket but I can't see the point based on the fact that I am unable to give any steps to reproduce the issue.

Since re-registering I have managed to start Studio One twice without any licensing issues.

If it does happen again I will report back here.

It still might be worth opening a ticket. I had a similar authorization issue last year, and they took care of it immediately after opening the ticket.

In the past I've had Studio One lose 'authentication' due to a new wifi card and/or new router.
Since you've said you abroad, maybe different WiFi's or ISP's are the issue?
Firewalls may cause it too so if you're on a corporate WiFi that's something to check. ;)

I have experienced this on a few occasions with V3. In may case it happens if I have installed and authorised Studio One off line. I do it this way because my audio machine is off line. However if for some reason I was accidentally on line at the time of booting Studio One then this would happen and I would have to use an activation to get it working. And then go in to my account and reset my activations.

Good news is V4 does not do this at all now. So it seems that issue has been addressed.

Thanks, yeah, I agree. I will see if it happens again... So far, so good, since the last activation :)

Possibly, although I generally don't bother with WiFi when using Studio One unless I have forgotten to turn tethering off, or, in this case, to reply to a forum post. Studio One is currently playing my ambient drivel as I type

Hi Jeff, how are you? We haven't spoken for a while :)

Your comment about V4 is interesting... I haven't made the jump yet. I've only been using Studio One as a hard disk recorder while playing with my modular hardware stuff...

I will also try different sequences of power up, with WiFi already connected, see if that makes a difference.

cheers

Well, restarted my Surface Pro with tethering already on and WiFi connected. Studio One started okay.

So, to recap, I was in Bruges on Wednesday night and Studio One fired up okay.

Thursday morning, still in Bruges, Studio One said it wasn't licensed and I had to re-activate it.

Since then I have fired up Studio One in Amsterdam and, today, in a little village called Amelinghausen, Germany, and not experienced any problems.

I guess I should let this lie for the time being and see how it goes for the rest of the trip...

cheers, and thanks for your patience,

andy
