Channel strip collection is on sale right now. Is it worth the money?

Can anyone point out the difference between the Channel Strip plugin included in the S14 Pro
and Channel Strip Collection which is on sale?

In Studio One Pro there is also a plugin called Fat Channel XT, whats the difference between this and the Channel Strip plugin?

Firstly the included PreSonus Channel Strip Plugin is something quite different to the VT1 and RC500. Useful but a totally different plugin.

The compressors in the actual VTI and RC500 paid for Channel Strips have a few little extra controls and features compared to the versions provided within the Fat Channel. The EQ's in the Fat Channel versions seem to be identical.

What you can do in the Fat Channel versions though (which you cannot do in the paid channel strips) is alter the order of the compressor and the EQ. This can be useful at times.

So yes the basic VT1 and RC500 is now being provided (these are free right now) and you may not have to buy the actual paid for versions. It just comes down to whether you want those little extras that are provided in the paid for versions.

You've already got most of the functionality - unless you love the sound of the VT1 and the RC500 already and want those few extra controls, I'd probably save my cash (or wait for a sale, if the sale is why you're asking) to take a swing at the Tube P1B or the Everest C100A. Your mileage may vary!

Thanks for clarifying. Think i stick with what i got for the moment. Guess the included and the free ones covers my needs for the moment. I have been shopping around for some plugins and couldnt resist arturias filter and preamp plugins, but ill guess thats another story.

The free ones actually contain the full EQ as per the paid channel strips. It is the compressors in the free ones that lack some features in the paid version.
