In addition to SO I also use Ableton Live. Since Live does not yet support VST 3, I have to install 2.4 versions. Hence my question:

Is there any benefit of using VST 3 in Studio One over 2.4?

(If not I might just install v 2.4 of my plugins.)

Thanks,
Sven

Yes. To name a few...

1. Sidechains
2. Direct access to automation. (right click Edit / Remove)
3. Automatic switching with track or bus channel mode mono/stereo..

Its worth mentioning that this is Studio One specific limitations and not limitations in the vst-standard itself.

I understand 2 and 3 above, but what do you mean by sidechains? Thanks for your reply!
