specialistsound wroteread through a lot of the messages. People seem to be having the same issue.
I understand v4 not working to perfect standards right now, but what i do have issue with is that my v3 is no longer in my products, and also that i cannot activate it so can't carry on working.
V4 works in the loose sense but crashes every minute or so the second i load up a project from v3.
I've got a EP to finish. If i knew buying v4 would stop me using v3 all together, i wouldn't have bought the update. As such, i may miss my release schedule.
I hope they fix this soon. If they could only just reactivate my v3, there will be no issue.
Strange how my v1 and v2 licenses aren't affected.

I have the sam! V2 is still listed on the 'my products' page, but V3 has now disappeared. Studio One V4 is working, but I can't use V3 anymore and am also still finishing stuff there. Luckily V4 works here, but I'd rather not risk any issues that may come up and finish current songs in V3.

Anyone knows if this is normal? Could it be due to 'upgrading' instead of buying a full license? Doesn't seem right though.

Agreed. I can read the names of plugins in the mixer way worse now than before. Other than the text it looks good though.

Have you played with the contrast?
Also, are you running HDR if so what scaling are you using?

snb1 wroteYou can now add the splitter and have it affect the signal before you even add a plugin. Nice! Thank you.

Thanks for the heads up on that... I've noticed lots of little refinements here and there... even to the interface. This update is really growing on me. I wish that Presonus would release a comprehensive list of everything they changed. It's like a treasure hunt finding small refinements like that.

For anyone complaining that this is a 3.6 update, they are really not seeing what I'm seeing. This is a very solid 4.0 update IMO, and keeping in mind that all the upcoming free point release updates 4.1, 4.2, etc., will likely be big steps each time, the $150 upgrade fee is a good deal too. $50 per year over three years? Very happy to pay that price.

Tight integration with Native instruments komplete control MK2 would be nice seeing as the drum editor now features Maschines lol. Like the new features point updates will no doubt bring more goodies to the fore .

You are just not used to slightly changed contrast/brightnes.
In my sight the visual has improved. Also the readability of text.

Yes, I have played with the contrast, it didn't do much. Plugin names are barely readable now.

I use 125% scaling.

I guess I prefer bold font in mixer view, just like in v3.

It's nice that it has improved for you, but to claim that I'm just not used to the changed contrast is a bit weird. I have a 30" Dell 2560x1600 resolution monitor which upholds to very high image quality standards. The text in the mixer looked great before to me, and now I can hardly read it.

Let's conclude it may differ depending on the monitor / screen you view it on. Don't assume that I need to 'get used' to something that I can't read.

Here is a side by side of your images.
It shows lighter background.
Have you played around with the inverted views? Black on the light. can be easy to read.

Exactly - inserts have lighter background/less contrast and these little power buttons are just too bright/saturated. It has nothing to do with the overall settings in Appearance tab.

That will be up to Nektartech to provide updated support files at some point. I've just logged in and it's still showing the original one from 2016-05-03. Hopefully, they'll take care of it soon.

As I stated on social media earlier, if we never had an upgrade from 3.x, or even 2.x, we'd be none the wiser. If no DAW software from any company was ever upgraded/updated again, we're still able to make wonderful recordings, mixes and masters. Tis easy to forget that and join the hype.

Personally, it's the first time I'm NOT upgrading. Nothing is of enough significance to me, but that isn't a criticism. I can see where the main part of this upgrade was aimed at, it's just that those elements aren't what I use Studio One for. The improvements elsewhere wouldn't justify an upgrade of $149 for me, BUT I can see why for others they would.

Good work Presonus regardless that I'm not jumping on board this time. I'll stay tuned for future developments.

Amazing new features! Real good stuff and worth the money imho!
However I still don't get it how anybody can work with time-stretching in Studio One. I can't be the only one who uses time-stretching to a marked extend.
The stretching quality is still the worst (phasing issues, artefacts and overs). No turntable mode.
It's still not possible to stretch a simple 4 on the floor kick without messing up the timing. Using Melodyne for this task also still results in missing transients and brand new in Studio One V4: missing tails(!) of bounced files... You can't even loop a simple breakbeat without swalloing transients... You can't start a song on the first beat due to these timing/bouncing/buffer/stretching issues...
Back to Logic again...

I apologize. Did not whanted to offend you.

I could not spot a big difference on your screenshots. V4 has a little more brightness
in the boxes, this might lead to difficults to see the also white text? Maybe also in combination with brightness a little to high in the settings of your monitor. Just an idea.

A darker background of course leads to better seeing white text. (As in V3)

Working here with scaling 135% and a Dell U2711 (which upholds to very high image quality standards H-IPS panel) in 2560x1440 that was calibrated.
No offend.

I agree with most of the comments here so far. I'm impressed, but I'm holding purchase off for now as I would have like to have seen....

a) Templates! (e.g. for projects and tracks) - Not having this is the single most annoying thing about Studio One, it's a massive gaping hole that needs to be filled.

b) No channel gain knob. No phase button? Come on guys! (Yes I know the workaround).

c) The waveforms being drawn still look horrible in my eyes for a lot of instances. Perhaps they need to hire a specialist UI dev who is particularly good at geometric graphics (think fabfilter).

d) Would like to have seen some more basic MIDI sequencer improvements (see Funkybot's comments).

** And a side note, I do hope Studio One Version 3 finally gets the documentation fully up to date this month including the PDF download **

Let me say again I am impressed... but call me greedy I wanted more to fill in the gaps. I hope PreSonus is watching.

Studio One Pro 4, Faderport 1, Atom, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Maschine Studio, Octapad SPD-30, Roland A300, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
EVGA Geforce 1070 (Nvidia drivers). A bigly amount of other gear.
