So far it looks like they picked a ton of stuff that I'm going to be using daily.

Awesome!

Mac OS X Catalina 10.15.7
Mac Pro 6.1
3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5
32 GB 1066 MHz DDR3
Dual AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB
Quantum 2

Track / Channel Notepads
Drum Editor

Other than that, I can see how the other features are WOW for a lot of people, for me they are just "meh..." Definitely an update focused on beat/loop/edm folks.

Not sure if I will update right away or wait.

I purchased Studio One 3 only recently. I hope there is a grace period for the upgrade as I believe there was in previous versions, does anyone know?

Well I was quite shocked too, to see that I would have to pay 150€ for the "upgrade" from SO3 Pro. Although I purchase Studio One 3 Pro last year, there haven't been a ton of updates and most of "my" issues have never been fixed.

For the only reason of "supporting" Presonus I would have been ok with an update price up to 100€ - but not more. I also paid quite a lot for the pro version not too long ago. Not very happy atm.

EDIT: Just watched the demo video. Not impressed. The update looks more cosmetic than anything else, barely patching in what's been requested for years, like a step sequencer. For me it means, this is a forced update to not fall out of the update cycle.

I'm happy for those that are happy! :+1
I don't do EDM, rap, loops, and so on, and virtually all I've watched for the last hour has been aimed in that direction. It looks like they still regard MIDI as a pretty dead protocol, or well, not worth enhancing. I need to look into all the new stuff in detail before springing for £128.

I'd love to test it, but I keep getting an 'Invalid License File' error.

Not a great start.

Presonus said on the YouTube live chat stream that they have identified the fix and are implementing it as he typed it.

Is there a list of "under the hood" fixes, updates, etc?

I just saw a reply on Twitter too, hopefully it's soon. They haven't had the smoothest launch day have they!

WAIT BEFORE BUYING

S1-4 does not work yet, but you will loose your S1-3 license as soon as you buy (so even before installing)!!!!!!

Thx for the tip Webhamster...

I was looking forward to upgrade my Studio One 3 Professional to Studio One 4 Professional shortly once I got a reply from Sweetwater for $150.

The new features are pretty sweet and I am sure I can put them to work for my epic music.

My old version of S1 is still working.

Looking at my account, it appears the system renamed V3 to V4 - rather than creating a new license key.

So what is called S1 4 in my account, is still the license key for S1 3.
