I set the start point and activate preroll. I arm the track and press record. I get the 4 click preroll and then the record process begins. The only problem is that sometimes it will jump back a whole measure before the start point. I don’t seem to be able to change this. Sometimes it works fine though.

That is interesting frank. Have you got 1 bar pre roll set perhaps. Or are you just going straight into record. I do a lot of recording from many parts of the arrangement, and I have never seen any odd behaviour here. Studio One backs up the set number of bars (every time) and just goes into record for me. Also never see jumping back to the start either unless I ask it to.

Remember too that Pre Roll and Pre Count are two different things. If you have been using Pre Count a lot maybe try Pre Roll instead.

Perhaps I’m phrasing it wrong. I activate the button on the transport that clicks 4 times before it actually starts recording. The issue is that sometimes it will start at the cursor point and sometimes it will just jump back a whole measure before the cursor and start recording there.

Oops that’s pre count I think.

Yes that is Pre Count. Try Pre Roll for a while and see how that goes. I am trying to determine if there is a bug in Pre Count behaviour. Pre Roll for me has been pretty good. Pre Roll will jump back by the number of measures set in the metronome settings but it wont engage into record until the point where you want it to.

I’m still pretty confident that there is a step I’m doing that I’m not aware of. However I commented on another thread where a gentleman seems to have a similar issue involving punching in. I think his jumps back to start though.

@frank.crow,

The issue of Precount Record causing Return to Start on Stop to fail is a known issue.

The link to the thread discussing the issue is here: https://forums.presonus.com/viewtopic.php?p=155612#p155612.

Hope this helps,

Thanks
I think that’s really super close to what I’m experiencing. Perhaps close enough for your workaround to help me. I’ll try it.
Thanks again

@jpettit,
I installed the 3.5.5 update today and ran tests. The issue appears to be solved in version 3.5.5.45892, even though there was no mention of the fix in the release notes.

Thank you,
