hi everyone, if one zooms out enough as to not see any markers is there a way to locate a marker without zooming back in?
in sonar there was a marker box in the transport that had a horizontal slider and a drop-down with all the markers which enabled one to click on the marker one wanted.
does studio one have anything like that?
thanks so much.

I am at work so not in front of S1 to tell the exact keys to use, but open the keyboard shortcuts to the transport section and they will be listed. I do know the keycommands are using the numberpad on the keyboard.

Hope that helps.

Right click right on the timeline and the marker list pops up. You can select a specific marker right there and the cursor will immediately jump to it.

Shift + N (to the left) and Shift + B (to the right) will also allow you to jump markers.

I'm away also, but maybe this will help. I'll use the keypad, and just remember that two higher is the number of keys to marker number.

So:
0 is always return to zero time (or first return to start of play, option depending, then to zero).
1 is the loop start
2 is the loop end

3 is then marker #1
4 is then marker #2
........... etc.
9 is then marker #7

Nice, cuz I usually zoom in and zoom out too... maybe I can work smarter?

So as the OP stated, you're zoomed in and don't want to zoom back out, so (as Jemusic says) you open the "Marker List". What I can't remember is if the actual Marker Names show or if they're only listed/shown as numbers?

The manual states you can rename Markers and I also seem to remember that there were preset names to choose from when inserting a new marker? When I insert a new Marker, it shows as a number, then I rename it immediately. Hmm. ;)

If you rename a marker then when you look at the marker list (right click timeline) then the name also appears there. Alongside Marker 1- Name etc.

There are no preset options for markers. I think you maybe thinking of the arranger timeline which there are preset names for song sections but these are also easily renamed.

The numeric pads are not much help when you have got 247 markers in one session which I had recently in a job. They are only good for 7 markers really in one session.

Yes, that's it... preset names for "song sections" not the Markers.

Having the Marker names is needed - I have just 13 Markers in a song and I can't remember where each falls. I'm going to review this newly learned/remembered technique tonite! ;)

Yeah, I don't use many markers, so they usually are the start of major parts like Chorus 1, 2, Verse 1, 2, 3, intro, End, or some basic location. I use Shift + L quite a lot, because I'm always defining some loop area, and will zoom the loop from end to end. There's also blocks with some DAW's, but that's never appealed to me.

2 years ago, I bought this Microsoft touch mouse. Nice item. You can whisk along the timeline with index finger going sideways along the top of the mouse. Then up down zooms in or out.

You can also create macros so that once you click on an event, the timeline will go to it's start. It's largely a matter of creating workflows that work for you.

Naming markers might have their place for some things, but its never been anything I felt I had to do. Mmv.
If so, right click on the timeline for those places.

I'm sure Jemusic had a lot of cue points for 247. But just shows you there's different needs for each of us.

so, thank you all, this was a lot of help.

Not sure if this is what you mean but you can easily rename markers just like media clips, from the macro toolbar menu...

Also, the Insert Maker action has a Name argument, if you want to make macros to insert already named markers.

For the sake of our refugees, remember that all keyboard commands are editable. So if you're like me and you don't like the offset, just remap all of your numeric keypad numbers to markers.

Absolutely. I just like 1 and 2 to be the loop start and end, so it was painless to deal with as is.

But hey, have a blast modifying.

I'm pretty sure this is a family of users from many walks. I make no distinction, and wouldn't bore, anyone with my previous DAW's used. Don't expect to hear theirs either. But case in point for "peeps", who just don't know that the keys are editable. Point taken.
