One of the weird things that I haven't yet been able to figure out is how to get a Track name to reflect the instrument being played in it, when that instrument has the ability to route to multiple channels. Take Impact, for example. I have a kick routing to Stereo 1, a snare to Stereo 2, hats to Stereo 3, etc. For each routing, a console strip appears for it. I can name each of those console strips according to the drum piece being routed. But as far as the singular instrument track is concerned, it lifts its name from the first strip in the console. If the first is named Kick, then the track is named Kick, even though the track handles ALL drums. Edit the track name to Drums, and the first console strip changes its name to Drums, even though it's just the Kick. Get the picture? How can I curtail this behavior? Naturally, I want the first console strip to be named Kick, and the first track to be named Drums.

Unfortunately, that is how it is setup. This is because the single track needs the name as where the console is divided. So I look at the console names not the track names. If you were to explode pitches to tracks you would then be able name them as you wanted.

i know it's a bit strange but once you work with "Exploded Midi Tracks" it makes more sense.

Thank you very much. I'll investigate exploding the pitches to tracks, but if I find that I don't have the ability to selectively explode multiple pitches to a single track, I won't bother. I've got, for example, four Impact pads (pitches) loaded with performance variations on the same snare, and I'd want all four of those pitches broken out into a new instrument track together. I don't need or want a separate track for each of the four performance variations. If that's just the way it works, but I have a way to merge those four instruments tracks into one, then it might be good for me. I'll see what's up tonight.

Hi there,
Am I having probably sorta the same issue?
See, when I load an impact kit preset, some toms might be routed to the same channel as the hit hats. How do I change this?
My intention is to have a channel for toms, a channel for kicks and so on. Is this possible? How do I change the routing from this tom whom already came this way from the S1 preset?

Solved my issue by the following reply on another thread in case someone needs it.
matwalker wroteIf you want to assign each pad to it's own channel in the mixer then click on the button that says 'stereo1' at the bottom of each pad and you should see a list of inputs, to choose one just click on it and a channel will appear in the mixer.

hope this helps
