Toontrack allows you to drag MIDI and Chord tracks from one instrument to another. I'd like to drag such info from EZ Keys2 to EZ Bass.
I have both loaded (along with Superior Drummer 3), but I can't drag data between them because they seem "locked" in a frame, with the three tabs at the top. When I click on the EZ Bass instrument track, it doesn't open on its own, the pop up frame merely switches to it. That, in turn hides the EZ Keys instance, so I can't grab/drag anything from its song track to EZ Bass's song track. What can I do to overcome this. Thanks for any help.

BobF wroteYou can pin them with the pin glyph to have multiple open at the same time Thanks very much! EDIT: Tried this. I click on a VSTi, makes sure its pin in the upper right corner is engaged, but still the VSTi's stay locked in the container window when I switch between them. I can't get them to open in their own windows simultaneously, only in the container window with the tabs where I can switch between them. Any other ideas? Thank you. |
Please. I’m still stuck being unable to have multiple virtual instruments GUIs open at once. Pinning doesn’t seem to do anything. Is there another setting that controls a default setting of some sort, such as always pin GUIs? I prefer to have multiple GUIs open nearly all the time I’m using virtual instruments. Thanks.

You're trying to pin a GUI from a tab which won't work. Close them all. Open the first vsti you want and pin it. Then open a new instance of the second vsti and also pin it. Works here.

They won’t open as a single GUI so I can pin them. Every time I click on one in its instrument track it opens inside the container along with the other three virtual instruments I have in the project. None of them will open on their own, only inside the container that has the tabs. |
Works fine here. Open one instance. Click the pin icon on the top right.
Go to the mixer or track and click the instrument icon of the other instrument there. A new window will pop up. You can drag between them. |
flow wroteWorks fine here. Open one instance. Click the pin icon on the top right. That's not working here, at all. Did all those steps. Same result. When I click on another instrument icon in its track, the container simply switches tabs to it, and the "pinned" instrument window disappears, and it's back in a tab position in the container. Even if I remove the VI from the container, and the instrument from the project (to start from scratch), I drag in a new instantiation and click on it, it opens in the tabbed container, and there it stays no matter if I pin it after opening the fresh instantiation OR I try to pin it when it's opened in the tabbed container. When you say, "open one instance," that's clicking the instrument icon on a track, correct? Thanks for hanging with me on this. |

When you say "close them all," do you mean delete them all from the project and begin over, using the pinning strategy to keep them out of the container? |

Works here. No no sorry - what I mean is once you pin your first virtual instrument, don't open your second one from a tab in that grouping. Instead click on the button that opens the "instrument editor" either from the track controls area, or the corresponding channel in the console. This will open up another separate group from which you can pin the second vsti. I'll try to post a video if you are still having trouble. Sorry my descriptions are off, but I don't know off hand what they call the "tab view" of all of the instrument gui views. |
Sorry this is just a small section of a 4K screen so the instrument GUI's are disproportionately large but you'll get the idea. Once you open another instrument from within the grouping that has the first pinned instrument, your pin is gone. So do this instead>

The video helped soooo much! Thank you for taking the time. Very kind! |
No worries - glad it helped. I should have done that from the start as the answer I posted just confused things and wasn't very helpful.
