I use Windows OneDrive which requires access to the Documents folder as well as all subfolders within. OneDrive wants to sync frequently. However, Studio One always does frequent saves. While working on a project in the Project page, if I click on a song that needs a minor change in its mix, when S1 goes to fetch the song it reports that 'there is a newer version...'. That is not really true. I think it just sees the time stamp from the most recent autosave. Confusing and annoying.

MS OneDrive will not allow any folder under Documents to be exempt from sync.

Is it really necessary to have Studio One under Documents? Can't it just be in its own folder an the root of some other drive ('C' for example) ?

Welcome to the Forum!

Studio One allows you to save a song where ever you want to put it. You set it when you create the song, or save to new folder from inside a song.

Thanks! Will do.

I understand that the 'Song' folder can go anywhere. Can the entire 'userdata' be put anywhere as well? I think there is also a 'song' folder as a subfolder in userdata, no?

Yea when you set user data up in locations then that would be your default location but you can change that to a different location for the current song if need be.

In addition to the solid advice on where to store your S1 user data - please note there is no requirement to have the Documents folder (Windows) being exposed to One Drive at all.

I use One Drive here as well - but never allow One Drive to access Desktop,Documents or Pictures folders as default. One Drive has its place but not to copy everything on my drive.

Like others have noted - you should never allow S1 to write to any location where One Drive will be copied things and altering file stamps etc.

Cheers

Thank you for this input. How did you get OneDrive to exempt Documents. I tried that and the lovely software kindly advised me that was a 'System' folder and could not be exempted!

Try this:

Click the One Drive icon in the tray and go to the little "gear" in the upper right of the menu that flies out.

Click Settings->Sync and Backup->Manage Backup.

Dump the folder targets you do not want (see graphic)

Holy Cow! That approach worked -- even though it stands in direct contradiction with the other approach.
