Again with the cubey thing (and I'm not knocking it, just saying my experience) ... it was a mess for me. It's hard for me to believe it was once my Riker  But like you say, to each their own.

Well, it's not like I can't give you plenty of examples that "Cubey" is in fact messy! Like fer instance:

After the install, your desktop has like six icons instead of the anticipated one.
The program separates into a container and a song; close the song, yet the outline of the container remains. Open the song, you get the container and have to click again for the song. I've never seen anything like it and I've been on Windows since 3.0!
They rewrote their controller patch scripts, which only work for the Arturia Essential controller keyboards, not the more expensive Keylab MkII series.

There's more, but you get the idea. That said, the program pretty much behaved itself even though I wouldn't be the first to call it clunkier feeling than S1, but no major show-stoppers or CPU weirdness.

I wasn't aware of the Arturia thing. Good thing I just didn't think it held up to S1 as that originally looked like a great idea  I just never really got that far.

I'd have played with it longer but when I loaded ONE INSTANCE of AT5, the performance meter said like 70%   No thanks. I don't care if it spreads out eventually, it's like 10-12% in S1.

a bit dismal for a full version release imo certainly not worth the asking price... again imo so I will wait until it is half off... but even half off is steep with times so tough on everyone's purse. I may not even buy it then

but this is not surprising having heard what fender's ceo had said about the possible direction this DAW is heading.

I have been around long enough that I have far better plugins and instruments so updates and new effects/instruments (which are FAR past due) have no sway. simplified track presets are the only thing that seems valuable to me (and it too is WAY past due imo) but not enough to cause me pause to bypass

but this is just me so take what I have said with a grain of salt if you are so inclined

Cheers 🥂

espenaure wrotePresonus. For the love of god. Please do something about that color palette. It hurts my eyes and brain.

You know that is fully editable, right? You can make the tracks any color you want. There are dark mode settings, light mode settings....I know someone that has ALL dark on the SO. All his tracks are dark shades of Blue.

Just sayin'.

Aren't the colors "fully editable" if someone installs that add-on color toolbar -- not with the few colors available stock, many of which are colors men (99% of forum members, or so it seems) typically avoid like pinks, fuchsia, and purples?

I'd like to be wrong. Please point me to an easy way I can add to or replace the stock colors and I'll stand corrected. "Dark mode settings" and "light mode settings" are not colors, they're settings.

Once again, I'd like you to be right and me proved wrong.

You know what? I've been using Color Toolbar for SO long I forgot that that wasn't part of Studio One. My apologies. You are correct.

May I bother you for a link for obtaining this Toolbar? This is the first I've heard of it, yet it sounds rather useful.

Yes, I can reproduce it. [CTRL]-D works as expected, but dragging doesn't. If you [alt]-drag a closed folder, it creates chords as a mixdown from all included tracks. Seems to be a bug.

What no DAW developer has ever been able to do is develop a major upgrade designed to squash long-lasting bugs, optimize performance, and greatly increase stability and compatibility. Why, because that is normally not what major paying updates are for…I think it could be a great time for that to happen now.

hmmm... Cakewalk by Bandlab has been doing just that for a couple of years. Maybe they can get away with it because you don't have to pay for it? So they roll them out every month or so, along with new features as well as significant upgrades to existing features. Apparently no need to "hoard" them to justify a paid upgrade.

Many of the "features" in this release are pretty minor and/or have been available elsewhere, including CW.

I was hoping for a discount on Fenders.

Can I ask if anyone else in the UK has had problems doing the upgrade through the shop portal?

I have a ticket open for an issue where the checkout is unresponsive once I hit the big blue "Complete Your Purchase" button. Nothing happens.

Anyone?

hehe. They most definitely are way too expensive mostly these days.

I have 3 Fenders. Actually, I just bought an Ibanez "AZ". That is my one fetish, instruments. One can only wonder why I need so many

Yes. Having the same problem. It's not temporary - I've tried several times over several days. Sent email to support, and had no reply.

Cakewalk/Sonar was absolutely riddled with bugs before being taken over by Bandlab (no idea what it is like now). The cakeinati would try and suppress any mention of it.

I assume they had no choice but to squash bugs with the limited resources they have under Bandlab, things have changed for the better I hope.

Intel i9 9900K (Gigabyte Z390 DESIGNARE motherboard), 32GB RAM, EVGA Geforce 1070 (Nvidia drivers).
Dell Inspiron 7591 (2 in 1) 16Gb.
Studio One Pro 6.x, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit, also running it on Mac OS Catalina via dual boot (experimental).
Presonus Quantum 2626, Presonus Studio 26c, Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Faderport Classic (1.45), Atom SQ, Atom Pad, Maschine Studio, Octapad SPD-30, Roland A300, a number of hardware synths.

For those using it, me too. The money I wasted on what was a great "concept" of a DAW that was mostly unfunctional due to CONSTANT bugs was unacceptable. Don't get me started on that forum way back  (any of you old enough to remember the most epic thread in history about Nuendo performing better?)

What used to drive me absolutely mad about the cakinati was people saying "well, I don't ever use that" like we're supposed to not use what it advertised on the tin

Ok, back to Studio One, diggin' all of it so far (looks for some wood to knock on)

I gave it spin a while back. The controller integration certainly has NOT improved. It all seemed the same to me, including the Black/Orange Halloween theme.
